Two millennia of wine history in the Southern Rhône Valley has naturally created a selection of grape varietals well adapted to the Lirac region and its terroir: soil, landscape and climate. The Lirac appellation extends itself on the low hills alongside the river, just across the Rhone river from the beautiful vineyards of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Rodolphe de Pins, owner and winemaker at Chateau de Montfaucon, is very attached to the idea that they must conserve this natural heritage that is a true asset to their region. This evolution leads to well balanced and harmonious wines with a true identity of Rhône.

Displaying aromas of ripe red berries and delicate floral notes of violet and rose petals. Subtle hints of baking spices, cinnamon and clove add depth and intrigue to the nose.  Juicy red fruit flavours dominate on the palate with raspberries and strawberries taking centre stage, supported by a backbone of supple tannins that lend structure and balance. There's a delightful acidity that provides freshness and vitality, while nuances of cedar and tobacco emerge on the mid-palate adding layers of complexity to the long finish.

Can be enjoyed on its own or paired with a variety of dishes, from grilled meats to hearty pasta dishes.

Grenache, syrah and cinsault from the pebbled terraces for this red with a southern character, which offers a generous bouquet of strawberry jam, garrigue and milk caramel. The melt in the mouth, sappy and long, with a silky chew and a fine acidity, was favoured by patient aging (18 months in vats), a trademark of the estate. A high-flying lirac.
