Bàrbara Mesquida Mora established the groundbreaking Mesquida Mora winery in Mallorca in 2012 near the town of Porreres. Her wines form a rich mosaic recalling the diversity of Mallorca varieties while also representing the history of her pioneering winemaking family, with her own unique futuristic vision. Upon leaving behind the winery created by her pioneering great-grandfather in 1945, Bàrbara started her project from scratch with historic vineyards inherited from her mother.

Have a taste of the wonderful island of Mallorca with this mixed case. It includes the following wines:

2 bottles x Mesquida Mora Sincronia Blanc 2021 (Mallorca, Spain)
White | Premsal, Giro, Chardonnay
91 points by Robert Parker

Sincronia Blanc radiates the light and spirit of the island of Mallorca. The wine is a blend of the indigenous prensal blanc and giró varieties with chardonnay. Bright, aromatic, and elegantly textured, Sincronia Blanc remains both fresh and substantive at the same time, a testament to the incredible provenance of the vines and the expert handling by Bàrbara. The notes of white fruits like apple and pear appear first, then giving way to sweeter sensations reminiscent of peach or melon, with a slight hint of coconut. In the mouth it is well-rounded, meaty, long and persistent, with a finish that is full but fresh.

Pairing suggestion: Pair it with seared scallops with brown butter and lemon pan sauce.

2 bottles x Mesquida Mora Sincronia Negre 2020 (Mallorca, Spain)
Red | Callet, Gorgollasa, Mantonegro, Monastrell, Cabernet, Merlot
90 points by Robert Parker

Sincronia Negre is a love letter to the rich mosaic of Mallorca’s diverse grape varietal makeup. This wine combines both freshness and power; with Mediterranean garrigue aromatics and a core of mouth-watering fruit destined to pair incredibly well with any food. It is a warm introduction to the soul and spirit of Mallorca, a joyous red table wine destined to elevate any meal or situation.

Pairing suggestion: Pair it with chorizo and shrimp paella.

1 bottle x Mesquida Mora Trispol 2019 (Mallorca, Spain)
Red | Cabernet Sauvignon, Callet, Gorgollasa, Mantonegro, Merlot, Monastrell

When Bàrbara split from her family winery in 2012 to begin her project, she said that, along with the vineyards inherited from her mother, all she needed was a roof and a floor.  Trispol means “floor” in Mallorquìn, and this red wine is one of two top cuvées produced by Mesquida Mora.

Trispol is a complexly structured red wine. Like all of the special cuvées of this artisanal winery, Trispol is produced with low-intervention in limited quantities and is designed to improve in bottle. Spicy red fruit with touches of vanilla and cocoa and light pyracinic notes producing a wine that is full-bodied, fresh, long and persistent in the mouth.

Pairing suggestion: pair this wine with date-and-soy-braised short ribs, or miso-mushroom risotto.

About the Winery

Mesquida Mora

Bàrbara Mesquida Mora established the groundbreaking Mesquida Mora winery in Mallorca in 2012 near the town of Porreres, producing wines in the DO Plà i Llevant and Vins de la Terra de Mallorca designations in the southern and eastern areas of the island.

Bàrbara’s wines form a rich mosaic recalling the diversity of Mallorca varieties while also representing the history of her pioneering winemaking family, with her own unique futuristic vision. Upon leaving behind the winery created by her pioneering great-grandfather in 1945 in Porreres, Bàrbara started her project from scratch with historic vineyards inherited from her mother. Previously, Bàrbara managed the family winery for eight years, from 2004 until 2012, and was one of Spain’s first Demeter biodynamic certifications in 2007.

Bàrbara has not only been a passionate practitioner of organic and biodynamic viticulture for more than two decades; she has also introduced a regenerative agriculture approach through encouraging biodiversity within her estate vineyards. Prior to her winemaking career, Bàrbara studied Medieval literature and Catalan language in Barcelona. Comfortably multilingual culture, art, and language are like air and water for her, informing every aspect of her work. Bàrbara is among the vanguard of a wave of young producers recuperating and contributing to the unique cultural and viticultural matrix of traditional Mallorcan agriculture.
