Nestled in the scenic Colli Orientali del Friuli wine district, the Danieli Estate stands as one of the most esteemed names in the DOC. The estate’s storied legacy began in 1870, when Filotimo Danieli and his wife Anna Beltrame founded the winery amidst the rolling hills of Buttrio. Now in its fifth generation, Marina Danieli and her two children manage 100 hectares of diverse farmland, including vineyards, woods, gardens, and orchards. Dedicated to sustainability, the family conducts all production on-site, utilizing certified methods that prioritize the preservation of biodiversity and the integrity of the land.

Opening up with inviting aromas of freshly milled black pepper and nutmeg that are seamlessly layered over plush black fruits and hints of sweet tea. The palate holds medium weight, with finely woven tannins adding softness and body to the rounded mouthfeel. The juicy acidity highlights subtle floral nuances between the bright flavours of plump wild berries, extending into a long, satisfying finish.

Served at room temperature, this is perfect with cured meats or pizza - Served slightly chilled and it's an excellent match with fried fish.

91 Points - Eric Guido

The 2018 Merlot captivates with a mix of black cherries and plums complemented by exotic spices and dusty rose. This is a vibrant and round expression, lifted by juicy acids, and with cocoa and clove tinged red berries that give way to balsam herbs toward the close. There are so many layers here, and yet the 2018 comes across as accessible and pleasurable already. Nuanced tannins linger, as the 2018 finishes long and perfumed with blue and purple-tinged florals. Drinking window: 2023-2028.
