Located in the Macau en Medoc region not far from the entry to the Margaux appellation, this chateau dates back to the 18th century and now covers 22.5 hectares. The soils here are classic Garonne gravels with a clay sub-soil which provides a classic mellow character with relatively smooth tannins and an elegant and fine structure. These wines are remarkably consistent and approachable even in their youth.

Next-door neighbor to the Grand Cru Classé, Château Cantemerle, Maucamps is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Aromas of humus, dry leaf, and sour cherry reveal the slow passage of time in the cellar and hints of liquorice, cedar and walnuts complete this highly complex profile. The mouth, racy and elegant, offers a lovely persistance.

Pair this wine alongside with grilled flank steak, classic coq au vin, or a hearty beef or vegetable stew.

Sister’s Run is serious fun and serious wine. The talented, young winemaker Elena Brooks (of Dandelion Vineyards and Heirloom Vineyards fame) wears steel cap work boots every day of course, but carries a pair of high heels in back of the ute for emergencies - like last minute invitations to accept trophies at gala wine show dinners and the like!

A vibrant expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, this wine bursts with blackberries, dark fruits, and the richness of ripe compote. Fresh and lively aromatics are centered on cassis, accented by delicate hints of vanilla and a subtle touch of oak. The palate achieves a harmony between lush ripeness and a deeper, more contemplative depth. Its long, well-structured profile highlights cool, dark berry fruits with a refreshing vibrancy, while refined, textural tannins lend a drying finish that leaves an elegant and lasting impression.

For a perfect pairing, consider stewing beef served alongside creamy mashed potatoes.

The Piantini family's journey began in Chiusa di Pesio, Italy, where their ancestors left their wine-producing heritage to seek new opportunities in Mendoza, Argentina. Several generations later, the family acquired vineyards in the Cachapoal Valley from the founders of Winery Lagar de Bezana. In 2017, under the new ownership, the winery underwent a transformation, modernizing its processes and facilities, and was rebranded as Lagar de Codegua Terroir. This rebranding reflects a renewed vision and commitment to crafting premium-quality wines aimed at new markets and consumers in Chile and beyond

Situated at the base of the Andes Mountains, this Cabernet benefits from a unique terroir, where clear skies, cool nights, and gravelly soils contribute to its deep colour, refined tannins, and vibrant fruit expression. It offers fresh, delicate aromas of blueberries and blackcurrants, interwoven with savoury notes of pepper, grilled nuts, and cloves. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with smooth, velvety tannins and finishes with a long, satisfying elegance.

This wine pairs beautifully with well-seasoned red meats such as beef and lamb, especially when served with pepper or mushroom-based sauces. It also complements game meats and hearty stews like veal ragout. For cheese pairings, gruyère, emmental, or manchego offer the perfect balance to enhance the wine’s flavours.

A striking expression of old-vine Cabernet Sauvignon, seamlessly balancing structure, depth, and vibrant energy. The nose opens with ripe black plum and cassis aromas, unfolding into layers of savoury tapenade, earthy woodland notes, and a delicate lift of sweet balsam. Thompson Steer winery was established in 1990 and is based in the Coonawarra region of the Limestone Coast. The winery itself is named after the meandering lakes and adjoining fields to the vineyards that neighbour the country town of Mundulla. The wines made under this brand reflect all that is unique to this wine growing location. 

A fruit-forward wine brimming with bold flavours of blackcurrant, dark plum, and cherry. Subtle nuances of toasted oak and bitter chocolate balance the richness of the fruit, while velvety tannins lend texture and depth, culminating in a full, rounded mouthfeel. Amidst its intensity, a delicate undercurrent of cedar lingers on the finish, adding a touch of elegance and lift to each sip.

Hardy's constructed the Stonehaven Winery in 1998 with the purpose of showcasing the distinct qualities of the Limestone Coast region in Southern Australia. Following Hardy's acquisition by Constellation and subsequent brand expansion, the winery fell into dormancy after being sold. In early 2021, C.W. Wines acquired both the Stonehaven winery and brand, subsequently reintroducing the Stonehaven label to the market. Now sporting a revitalized appearance and market strategy, Stonehaven aims to appeal to contemporary wine enthusiasts, offering a wine selection suitable for any occasion.

Sourced from 20-year-old estate vineyards, this Cab Sauv presents classic notes of black fruits and dark chocolate, with subtle hints of fragrant herbs and eucalyptus. The palate is smooth and approachable, thanks to careful winemaking and small-batch fermentation. Aged in 30% French oak, the wine takes on added structure and complexity, with delicate nuances of vanilla and spice.

This unique wine is sourced from a combination of parcels from cool areas located in the Coastal Range of D.O Maule that deliver lively wines with tremendous fruit intensity. Los Compadres (co-fathers) refers to the friendship and partnership with growers of old vine Cabernet Sauvignon that have trusted Vinos Baettig with grapes coming from the best lots of dry farmed vineyards. These special parcels are close in term of quality and style providing different components to Vinos Baettig Cabernet Sauvignon.

The wine opens up with alluring aromas of blackcurrants and raspberries, quickly allowing notes of mint leaves and cigar box to unfold alongside the fruit. Full-bodied on the palate without feeling heavy, there's excellent concentration of ripe fruit, tea leaves and black olive tapenade that tempers the sturdy tannins. Sprightly acidity underscores the wine with freshness and helps carry the fruit and gentle spices into the finish. 

The robustness of Cab Sauv will match nicely with meat-based pasta dishes such as lasagna, baked ziti or ragu/bolognese sauce.

In 1984 Neil Ellis sourced grapes from vineyards not of his own and produced wine in rented cellar space. These grapes were sourced in the Stellenbosch district and meant a lot of nosing around the restrictive quota system prevalent at the time.

Today, the experience and knowledge of the past are applied to modern techniques and technologies for a new generation of winemaking. “Our vision remains to make distinctive, refined wines that are expressive of their terrain and rank amongst South Africa’s finest. A pursuit of quality, nothing less” - Neil Ellis.

Intense dark colour. The nose shows restraint, with aromas of black berry, liquorice and cedar notes. The palate is tight and fresh followed by fine, dense tannins. This is a wine built to last and for early drinking would benefit with decanting.   

This wine will be a great match alongside chargrilled ribeye on the bone.
