About the Winery
Mullineux & Leeu Family Wines
Mullineux Family Wines, established in 2007 in the Swartland region of South Africa, is owned and managed by Chris and Andrea Mullineux. Since its inception the winery has established itself as one of South Africa’s most celebrated wine brands, both locally and internationally. Originally from Northern California, Winemaker Andrea Mullineux studied Viticulture and Oenology at UC-Davis before working in Stellenbosch and meeting Chris at a wine festival in Champagne. Chris is the Viticulturist in charge of the vineyards on their farm on Kasteelberg Mountain as well as fruit sourcing for their value Kloof Street wines.
The vineyards at Roundstone are farmed organically and are in the process of becoming Regenerative Organic certified. This involves practices like crop rotation, no-till farming, and eliminating chemical pesticides and fertilizers. These methods help rehabilitate soil, promote animal welfare, and improve farmers' livelihoods while sequestering carbon and producing healthier yields. In the winery, no additives are used aside from minimal sulfur dioxide, and all operations are IPW certified, following environmental best practices. Waste, including grape skins and lees, is recycled or repurposed, and cellar effluent is processed through an eco-friendly wetland system.

Wine Orbit
93 Points - Sam Kim
Beautifully fruited and inviting, the bouquet shows golden kiwifruit, rockmelon, lime zest and sweet basil aromas, followed by a succulent palate displaying excellent vibrancy and intensity. Immediately appealing and highly enjoyable. At its best: now to 2027.

A lovely expression of SB with a bouquet of white fleshed fruits and citrus, some layers of red apple flesh and wet stone mineral. As the wine opens out in glass the natural herbaceous signatures begin to show with fresh angelica and basil. A youthful, taut and crisp textured wine touches the palate first, then flavours of citrus, fresh herbs and white fleshed fruits return. A moment of tropical fruit also shows. Balanced, well made and ready to drink from 2023 through 2027+.

About the Winery
Kellerei Bozen - Cantine Bolzano
Cantina Bolzano, based in the town of Bolzano, traces its roots to two of Alto Adige’s most historic cooperatives: Santa Magdalena, est. 1930 and Cantina Gries, est. 1908. After deciding to merge in 2001, Cantina Bolzano was created. Bolzano is located in the middle of a valley basin surrounded by hilly vineyards that grow from 200 meters above sea level up to 1000. North and south meet in this valley, and the sun warms the stony soils with its pronounced diurnal temperatures, protecting the vines from the cold.
The average growers’ plots in Sudtirol averages only approx. 1 hectare, and the area, with its famed reputation and steep slopes, is an expensive area to farm. The member of Bolzano (approx. 300 in all) own many of the best vineyards throughout the region, including the Valle Isarco, and pool their resources to create top quality wines. And while no grower is certified organic, many practice organic viticulture and all of them adhere to natural practices in their vineyards. Most growers have lived on their farms with their families for generations. They protect their land and cultivate their vineyards as they have done for generations with total respect of the environment where they live.

90 Points - John Szabo, MS
Deeply coloured for such a young wine, also very viscous and ripe on the nose, the heat of the 2022 vintage in Northern Italy comes through clearly in this wine. The palate is broad and fleshy, offering plenty of yellow-fleshed orchard fruit, ripe citrus and more in a concentrated expression, lingering nicely. It's not an easy-drinking, quaffable pinot grigio by any means, but a wine of depth and substance, best served at the table with equally high-intensity dishes, up to and including white meats, roast chicken and pork. Best now-2027
