Welcome to the intimate world of Quevedo, a small, family-owned winery where quality is a treasured tradition. The Quevedo family's viticultural heritage spans over five generations, beginning with Abel Gouveia Costa, who planted the first vines in 1889. Through the years, the family diligently expanded their vineyards, culminating in the 1970s when Oscar and Beatriz Quevedo modernized their facilities and established the Quevedo winery in 1993. Today, Quevedo oversees 100 hectares of vineyards and 25 hectares of organic olive groves, with current proprietors Cláudia and Oscar Quevedo Jr. continuing the legacy of crafting exceptional wines.

Q Grande Reserva Red is made from the finest local grapes, renowned for their small, intensely aromatic clusters. The 2019 captivates with intense aromas of violet and rose petals, evolving into a rich medley of red and black fruits including plum, blackberry and currants. Subtle hints of raisins and spiced vanilla enhance its complexity on the palate, with round, persistent tannins providing a pleasing velvety texture. Well-judged acidity adds refreshing balance to the denseness of fruit, hinting at this wine's potential for a long shelf life.

Ideal matches for this wine include grilled fare, game meats or steak tartare.

94 Points - Mark Squires

The 2019 Q Grande Reserva is a roughly equal blend of Touriga Franca and Tinta Roriz aged for 12 months in one-third new French oak. It comes in at 14.9% alcohol. A deep and ripe Grande Reserva, the Q this year is a Big Boy, but it holds its balance nicely. The tannins are not hard, but they are very much present, giving this a firm finish and demonstrating that a couple of years of cellar time would be very useful. Although this did close a bit after aeration, the big fruit on opening was pretty delicious and coats the palate. This looks like it will have a long life ahead and improve steadily over the next few years. Give it some time to show its best. Its ceiling may be higher than it now seems. This is sourced from Quinta da Alegria (67%) and Quinta do Mós (33%).
