Floral & Fresh

The Puiggros family has been producing wines from their own vineyards in Odena since 1843 for friends and family, however their wines have only been available commercially since 2008. Working exclusively with Garnatxas, the family came to realize that their traditional techniques and special terroir were something worth sharing with the rest of the world.

Exedra Blanc comes from a beautiful vineyard surrounded by pine trees planted with Garnatxa Blanca on limestone and clay soils, at 500 meters above sea level, with a breath-taking view to the beautiful mountains of Montserrat. Hand-harvested, the wine ferments and ages naturally in 800-litre clay amphorae.

On the nose, the wine is extremely aromatic: lemon zest, fleshy peaches, pineapple; and hints of sweet flowers such as jasmine, Mediterranean herbs and a delicate note of beeswax. On the palate, it has a nice mouthfeel and an ample freshness.

This wine is perfect to pair with seafood and to have on its own as an aperitif.

Floral & Spicy

Cantina Barbera is located in Menfi, on the west coast of Sicily. The vineyards are about one mile from the Mediterranean Sea: an uncontaminated deep blue sea, facing South, where low cliffs and sandy dunes create a beautiful environment protected by the Belice River Natural Reservation Fund.

This wine is 100% Frappato, and while Menfi is located outside the historical area where Frappato is traditionally planted, it shares many fundamental characteristics with that terroir: southern exposure, outstanding saline soils lying on compact clays. FuoriZona is a mouthwatering wine with a light ruby
color, soft tannins, a distinct acidity and a graceful body. It smells of cherries, mint, violet and red roses, and has a mouth of pink pepper, blood orange and pomegranate.

Try FuoriZona with tuna, seafood soups, or couscous and grilled vegetables.

Spicy & Tropical

Husband and wife duo Ilya and Nadia started Leaning Post winery in Niagara over 10 years ago. Initially a virtual set up, the winery now located on Highway 8, has become a reference producer in Niagara.

Harvested on September 25, 2021, the grapes were destemmed, into concrete tanks where it went through a spontaneous fermentation. It remained in concrete and aged on skins for 25 days, then it was gently pressed into clay amphora (17%) and stainless steel (83%). This wine was racked only a handful of times prior to being bottled unfiltered on April 13, 2022.

This wine represents the evolving nature of wine in Niagara. Orange marmalade, jalapeño pepper jelly, and passionfruit dominate the nose and palate, while elderflower honey, cream and lemon dominate the palate with a rich and oily texture. It is all tied together with bracing acidity, gorgeous texture and a seam of fine tannin. Chill and drink as it warms to reveal new facets of its unique personality.

Enjoy with fish tacos or fish and chips.

Creamy & Mineral

The “Geekiness” continues to rise in this wine. An experiment in lees aging, this riesling ages 22 months on all the lees collected from all the white wine fermentations since vintage 2014.   Reductive notes of flint and mineral frame all the beautiful stone fruit and classic Riesling notes.   It has a wonderfully rich and creamy texture balanced by a distinct freshness. It is practically immortal and should age beautifully for the next decade and well beyond.

Drink with freshly shucked oysters, sushi, and the geek you love the most.

Rich & Sweet

Jurançon is a very small wine region located in the Pyrenees, famous for its sweet wines made with late harvested grapes. The grapes are hand-harvested later in the season when the sugar levels are really high and the water content is very low. The delicate honey and herb-tinged nose is enticing, with a sweet edge. It has a lovely rich texture with notes of straw and herb on the palate and good balance with a honeyed sweetness.

This is the wine you want to open at the very beginning or at the very end of a dinner. It matches beautifully with all kinds of cheeses, specially goat and blue cheeses; as well as with foie-grass. It is also terrific as a dessert wine.

Herbal & Textured

Located in Snežatno in the Goriška Brda zone of Slovenia, near the border of Italy, Štekar winery is known for producing wines in the traditional manner, with extended skin contact and little or no sulphur added.  The hilly rugged terrain is marked with monuments to both world wars.

Rebula, also known as Ribolla Gialla, is a grape native to Friuli in Italy and this little corner of western Slovenia. As the natural fermentation began, the skins remained with the must for 24 days before being removed. The wine remained in giant Acacia wood barrels for eight months before being bottled without filtration. The result is expressive and spectacular; aromatic and inviting on the nose, the Rebula showcases yellow fruit, a firm structure. 

Orange wine made from Ribolla Gialla grapes pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes due to its unique flavour profile and aromatic qualities. Consider serving it alongside roasted vegetable dishes, as the wine’s acidity complements the sweetness of the vegetables. Additionally, it goes well with savoury dishes like pork loin or chicken marinated in herbs, and it can also enhance the flavours of a cheese platter, especially with aged cheeses or those with a bit of funk, like aged Gouda or blue cheese. For a delightful finish, try it with a citrus-based dessert or a fruit tart, which echoes the wine's fruity notes.

Her passion for the soil and the environment led her to embrace biodynamics and the agronomic philosophy of Manasobu Fukuoka. From one of the healthiest vineyards in Italy, Marina crafts wines that brim with life, energy, and pure terroir.

This red is called 'Neh! after a popular Piedmontese slang used to finish a sentence, similar to  'eh. It is a blend of Dolcetto, Barbera and Nebbiolo, the local red grapes in Piedmont.  This wine has deep fruity aromas with red summer fruits, like black cherry, strawberries and raspberries. The colour is dark ruby and the wine shows good structure, acidity and medium body with a distinct earthiness.

Floral & Fruity

Punset is an innovator when it comes to organic wine. Inheriting the estate in 1982, Marina Marcarino is a fifth generation winemaker.

This white is called 'Ne?' after a popular Piedmontese slang, used to finish a sentence, similar to  'eh. It is a blend of Arneis and Nascetta, local grapes in Piedmont. About 30% of the grapes macerate on their skins before starting fermentation, acquiring a special texture both on the palate and the nose. The wine ferments for month and ages in stainless steel.

Rich and fruity on the nose, displaying floral notes and white fruit flavours, with a hint of spice. This fruity sensation transitions in the mouth to deeper notes of honey, mellow butter and a light acidity that swiftly cleanses the palate. Well structured, with excellent acidity and balance.

Marina recommends to enjoy this wine as an aperitif, with fish or white meat.

Bright and balanced, this Barbaresco has an intriguing balsamic fragrance of menthol and eucalyptus layered with black cherry, leather and sandalwood. The fresh, delineated palate offers wild cherry, crushed raspberry, white pepper, mint and balsamic notes alongside supple tannins that give a smooth texture.

Enjoy this with beef and or game such as beefsteak, lamb, veal, rabbit and wild boar. Classic pairing with truffles!

Fresh & Juicy

To express their love for great flavours, Winemaker Julien Bonneau (Château Haut Grelot) and Chef Alexandre Lavigne dreamt up their own range of wines and created Cuvée Emma. 

Bunches of Merlot grapes are sourced from the hillsides of St Bonnet sur Gironde in the south of the Charente Maritime, a sub-region near the Ocean, on the outskirts of Bordeaux.

Emma embodies the purity of a natural wine, the commitment to sustainable viticulture, and the importance of the vine balance. Winemaking is naturally done without the use of sulphites. The wine boasts notes of black fruits and candied fruit. It is fruit-forward, full-bodied, with a beautiful length.

Suggested pairing: red meats and umami flavours, such as cacio e pepe or carbonara pastas.
