Gilvesy winery is located in the outskirts of Lake Balaton, near an ancient dormant volcano, in Hungary. Hungarian expat Robert Gilvesy moved back to his homeland from Canada to start this exciting project involving native grape varieties and volcanic soils.

This blend is light and fresh. On the nose, it's all about hints of mint, lemon and fresh cucumber, while on the palate it's zesty, with notes of green apple and citrus fruit.

It's delicious when paired with summer meals: fresh salads dressed with dried fruits such as cranberries and walnuts, grilled fish with potatoes and zesty ceviches.

Led by wine and cheesemaker Glenn Symons, Lighthall Vineyards is proud to make products that reflect the unique qualities of Prince Edward County. The winery specializes in low-intervention winemaking using grapes grown from their 63 acres of limestone-rich vineyards. They are known for high-quality chardonnay, pinot noir, and exceptional sparkling wines.

Progression VQA Prince Edward County 2023.
A delicious expression of County sparkling wine. Fresh with buoyant acidity, this wine is made from our own Vidal grapes and has had a second fermentation using the Charmat method. The nose is loaded with white grapefruit and green apple peel. Well paired with anything from a hot sunny patio to pizza to oysters, or served well chilled as an aperitif.

Riesling VQA Prince Edward County 2022.
One of Lighthall's most aromatic wines, this off-dry Riesling is bursting with kiwi, starfruit, nectarine, and a lovely bouquet of white flowers. The classic Jolly-Rancher and crisp green apple punch follows through on the palate with vivacious acidity. Pairs excellently with spicy south-Asian cuisine, curries, and tacos.

Pinot Gris VQA Prince Edward County 2022.
True to Lighthall's style, this County Pinot Gris is both mineral driven and rich. Partially fermented in neutral French Oak with an Alsatian-sourced yeast strain, the classic notes of cantaloupe, pear, and nutmeg are all present. A waxy tone of salted apple-flambé and confit honeycomb bring a perception of sweetness to a delightfully bone-dry wine.

Chardonnay VQA Prince Edward County 2021.
As typically found in County Chardonnay, this wine starts with aromas of flinty minerality, Asian pear, and salted caramel. A round palate is filled with flavours of golden delicious apple, baking spices, and a hint of lemon. Put together, it’s like an apple crumble before it’s been baked! The smooth texture and long finish leave you satiating for more.

Pinot Noir VQA Prince Edward County 2022.
A cooler vintage brings freshness to one of the county’s best varieties. Strawberry, red currant, candied cherry, and a savoury garrigue all burst from the glass. Tones of sumac, cedar, bittersweet chocolate and cinnamon bark bring a discerning finish to this elegant grape. The classic pairing of seared duck breast and mushroom risotto are a must-have.

Merlot VQA Prince Edward County 2021.
Cool-climate Merlot at its best. This wine is loaded with all things blue and moody: damson plums, violet, fig, blue-acai, and chocolate-covered blueberry. Rich oak tones of vanilla, chocolate, and marshmallow balance out the fruit intensity and leave a long yet distinguished finish.

Nutty & Waxy

Lighthall Vineyards is a small, proud, low volume and high quality winery located in enchanting Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. All their wines are produced in a non-interventionist manner and fuelled by passion as hearty as our vines. They also make cheese, designed to pair with their wines.

This wine is unmistakably County Pinot Gris. The aromas of pear and cantaloupe yogurt are delicate, rich, and inviting. The use of an Alsatian yeast strain and our method of partially fermenting in old French oak barrels give a smooth and rich mouthfeel, while the waxy finish of unctuous confit apple with a hint of nutmeg keep you coming back for more.

Choucroute garnie, foie gras, pork dishes, veal parmiggiano, chicken with cream sauces, and a traditional turkey dinner are all wonderful. Pizza bianca with a cream base, taleggio and pear is delightful, while meatier fish like halibut, cod, trout, or arctic char are ideal for the fish lovers. Chèvre and brie make great cheese options.

Delivery timeline:
It requires four full cases of each wine in order for us to build and fulfill four mixed cases. This process usually takes about 7-10 business days but may vary.

3 bottles x Château Barouillet Splash Pét-Nat 2023 (Southwest, France)
Sparkling | Sémillon

Located 50 km east from Saint-Émilion, the Barouillet family has been growing grapes for at least 8 generations in Pécharment, Monbazillac and Bergerac. Vincent Alexis, who joined his father in 2010, converted the vineyards to organic and is about to obtain the biodynamic certification. This splashy Pét-Nat is made from 50 year old Sémillon vines grown in clay and limestone soils. It is light in alcohol (only 9%!), fragrant, lively and richly textured on the palate. This bubbly has notes of lemon and lime, fresh apple and a touch of cut grass. Plenty of fizz! Pop and enjoy!

3 bottles x Gilvesy Bohem Balatoni Cuvée 2022 (Balaton, Hungary)

3 bottles x Štekar Rebula 2022 (Gorska Brda, Slovenia)
Orange | Ribolla Gialla

Located in Snežatno in the Goriška Brda zone of Slovenia, near the border of Italy, Štekar winery is known for producing wines in the traditional manner, with extended skin contact and little or no sulphur added.  The hilly rugged terrain is marked with monuments to both world wars. Rebula, also known as Ribolla Gialla, is a grape native to Friuli in Italy and this little corner of western Slovenia. As the natural fermentation began, the skins remained with the must for 24 days before being removed. The wine remained in giant Acacia wood barrels for eight months before being bottled without filtration.

The result is expressive and spectacular; aromatic and inviting on the nose, the Rebula showcases yellow fruit, a firm structure. Orange wine made from Ribolla Gialla grapes pairs beautifully with a variety of dishes due to its unique flavour profile and aromatic qualities

3 bottles x Fattoria di Sammontana Alberese IGT Toscana 2023 (Tuscany, Italy)
Red | Sangiovese, Trebbiano

The vineyards of Fattoria di Sammontana are located along the hills that border the Arno River, 20km to the south west of Florence. Today, the family - now in its fourth generation - runs the farm according to organic and biodynamic practices, with the intent to fully preserve and sustain the traditions and winemaking history of the land.

This wine is a nod to the old tradition that made Trebbiano a compulsory component of any Chianti blend. Almost entirely Sangiovese with just a touch of Trebbiano, Alberese is such a delicious, simple and easy drinking wine that it could go with just about anything. 

We particularly love opening a bottle of Alberese when cooking pizza or when having an aperitivo before dinner: a beautiful choice with cured meats, cheeses and olives. Any rich pasta dish made with bacon and tons of pecorino would also be a delicious option!

Intense & Mineral

Keint-He Winery & Vineyards is a boutique winery located in Prince Edward County. The winery has a strong focus on varietals that are typically grown in Burgundy, specifically Pinot Noir and Chardonnay; through which they truly express the best of the County with wonderful individual expressions. Keint-He’s approach to winemaking is as down-to-earth as it gets and their quality is second to none.

This Pinot Gris presents a straw-like hue with subtle grey undertones, characteristic of the varietal. The aromatic profile is dominated by notes of mint and minerality, with undertones of eucalyptus and a floral backbone that provides depth and complexity. The palate is light-bodied and refreshing, with citrus flavours of lemon and lime that linger pleasantly. The mouthfeel is lubricative, typical of Pinot Gris, leaving a clean and revitalizing finish.

Proudly family owned, the Borthwick vineyard is an established vineyard situated in Gladstone, the heart of the Wairarapa. Producing quality wine for over a decade, Paddy, an experienced wine maker, has gained a reputation for producing consistently great wines. The twenty seven hectares of vines bordering the Ruamahunga River are growing on stony, free draining, alluvial soils, with a micro climate giving warm daily temperatures, cool nights and low rainfall; perfect conditions for producing distinctive, quality wines.

Perfumed aromas of apricots, nectarines and green pears. A rich mid-palate displaying mild oak influence. The wine finishes dry and crisp with lingering hints of warming spice.

The gentle acidity and marked fruitiness of a well balanced Pinot Gris perfectly complements roast pork with a stewed pear sauce. This will also compliment creamy pastas, poultry and seafood.

Winemaker and co-founder Rob Cameron has a colourful winemaking background – learning his craft in unique destinations such as Cyprus, Bulgaria and Hungary before moving on to France, Spain and Italy. For him, the Invivo range is all about taking some of the elegance from the old world and putting that style into amazing grapes, all the while offering wines that are fun and a bit unique.

The nose of this Pinot Gris is vibrant, brimming with ripe pears and subtle hints of candied citrus. The palate follows suit with flavours of crunchy peach and apricot, complemented by delicate white floral notes and a soft, silky texture. This style offers an elegant drinkability, with a well-balanced profile that leads into a clean, crisp finish.

An aromatic and versatile grape that pairs perfectly with many different dishes. As this style verges on off-dry, try this with a nice spicy curry to tame the heat!

Keint-He’s approach to winemaking is as down-to-earth as it gets and their quality is second to none.

This crushable summer-sipper is a blend of 43% Gewürztraminer, 43% Riesling and 14% Pinot Gris. The nose shows soft citrus, with a grapefruit focus. The palate is very clean with very approachable lemon and grapefruit flavours. It's an off-dry white, perfect to pair with aperitifs and spicy Thai cuisine.
