Raised amidst the vineyards, Alexandre Favier is part of a long line of winemakers in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. His grandfather, Noël Sabon, hails from one of the region’s most renowned winemaking families. Alexandre began his viticultural studies at the age of fifteen in Orange, completing his exams by 2001. Just a year later, at the age of twenty, he assumed full winemaking responsibilities at Domaine Chante Cigale when his father’s health declined. Today, Domaine Chante Cigale stands as one of the most important family estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Vinified and aged in an ovoid concrete vat, this wine is sourced from an exceptional terroir. A classic blend of Roussanne and Grenache Blanc, it opens with a pure, mineral nose, marked by a saline quality and layered with aromas of white-fleshed peaches and stone fruits. On the palate, it reveals a harmonious balance of power and elegance, with luscious hints of peaches and cream. Bold yet refined, this wine has the potential to age beautifully for up to 10 years.

Robert, whose family is originally from Hungary, was born in Canada and grew up on a farm. After some years working as an architect, he found his passion in winemaking, and relocated to his grandparent's country to start a winery.

The Sauvignon Blanc for this wine comes from the Mogyoros vineyard. With classic Sauvignon Blanc aromas of lemon, lime, tropical white fruit and a hint of spice. You can even denote some soft earthy tones. The wine is rich and creamy in texture, multilayered with nice acid and a salty, mineral finish.

This bold Sauvignon Blanc would be a perfect pairing for seafood dishes.

Juan Jesús, who is a 4th generation winemaker, founded Viñátigo in 1990 and has worked tirelessly since then identifying, recuperating the native grapes of the Canary Islands. Today, his son Jorge is slowly taking over the viticulture and winemaking of Viñátigo, and is focusing on crafting wines from exceptional micro-vineyards in the north-face of Tenerife. Before settling down in his home-island, Jorge worked alongside great international winemakers in Chile, Argentina and Burgundy.

An island within an island, Paraje La Peña is situated in the highlands of Icod de los Vinos, nestled in a narrow ravine formed by the volcanic eruptions of Mount Teide to the north over the last two thousand years.

For over thirty years, Viñátigo has cultivated this isolated vineyard, protected from the rest of the island by a dense, green pine forest. The vines, trained in parrales, cling to the volcanic walls of the ravine. This training method, a direct influence of the Portuguese settlers who established themselves in the northeastern part of Tenerife in the 16th century, serves as a testament to the region's rich cultural heritage.

At about 450 meters above sea level and with direct exposure to the trade winds, this wine offers surprising freshness and acidity.

Pre-fermentative oxidation. Not controlled-temperature fermentation. Fermented and aged in amphora. All the whites age statically. No batonnage. Barely no racking at all.

Yellow fruit, plums and peach, and a gentle and polished palate with soft acidity and a bitter twist in the finish. This wine has tonnes of tahini, almond paste, smoked sea salt and pine. Tight on the nose explosive on palate with a slight burgundy feeling.

The Lomo de la Era vineyard is situated in the Paraje de la Cruz Santa, located on the west side of La Orotava valley. The vines are trained in the traditional cordon trenzado system, and can extend up to five meters long. At an altitude of 500 meters above sea level, the site benefits from the direct influence of the trade winds that arrive from the North Atlantic.

Five hundred thousand years ago, the collapse of the Cañadas Edifice caused a gravitational landslide that created La Orotava valley. The west side of the valley is well known for producing great white wines, due to presence of stonier soils than those in the central and eastern parts of the valley.

Pre-fermentative oxidation. Not controlled-temperature fermentation. Fermented and aged for nine months in amphora. No racking. 

Lomo de la Era is very dry and textured with dusty salinity, vibrant fruits, with a honeyed character, and a little aromatic blast of its volcanic origins.

Floral & Mineral

The Puiggros family has been producing wines from their own vineyards in Odena since 1843 for friends and family, however their wines have only been available commercially since 2008. The family came to realize that their traditional techniques and special terroir were something worth sharing with the rest of the world.

Signes del Priorat is Puiggros' first experience in the Priorat. A very limited edition of 600 bottles, made exclusively with Carinyena grapes planted on the steep slopes of the Porrera area. The slate soil on the slopes is known as llicorella ("licorice," due to its dark color) and is the main feature of the soil's terroir and the success of its native grapes.

The region's infertile soil imparts a characteristic minerality to the wine. On the nose, the wine has aromas of lavender and eucalyptus, that mingle with hints of candied fruit, rosemary, caramel and liquorice. Many of the vines harvested for this wine are old and produce low yields, which contributes to the wine's intensity on the palate.

Pair this wine with grilled meats or vegetables, something that will stand up to the tannins in the wine is key here. Avoid chili heat, as alcohol content enhances these flavours.

Intense & Mineral

Keint-He Winery & Vineyards is a boutique winery located in Prince Edward County. The winery has a strong focus on varietals that are typically grown in Burgundy, specifically Pinot Noir and Chardonnay; through which they truly express the best of the County with wonderful individual expressions. Keint-He’s approach to winemaking is as down-to-earth as it gets and their quality is second to none.

This Pinot Gris presents a straw-like hue with subtle grey undertones, characteristic of the varietal. The aromatic profile is dominated by notes of mint and minerality, with undertones of eucalyptus and a floral backbone that provides depth and complexity. The palate is light-bodied and refreshing, with citrus flavours of lemon and lime that linger pleasantly. The mouthfeel is lubricative, typical of Pinot Gris, leaving a clean and revitalizing finish.

Spiced & Round

Husband and wife duo Ilya and Nadia started Leaning Post winery in Niagara over 10 years ago. Initially a virtual set up, the winery now located on Highway 8, has become a reference producer in Niagara.

This blended wine (61% Merlot, 39& Cabernet Franc) always over-delivers massively for the price. Blackberry, cassis, raspberry and mulberry instantly appear on the nose, with lilac, cracked white pepper, licorice and pancetta following closely behind. On the palate, the warmth and weight of the 2020 vintage is immediately evident, with a very broad and weighty mid-palate featuring plum, wild-blueberry, and strawberry layered over dark- chocolate and graphite with wisps of herbs-de-provence and black olive fading in and out.

The powerful but soft tannins make it satisfying to drink now with a good decant, but it will certainly age well over the next 5-8 years. Great with burgers, cured meat, and hard cheese.

In the 17th century, Michel Muré planted his vineyard in Rouffach, unknowingly beginning a legacy that would span generations. In 1935, Alfred Muré expanded the property with the acquisition of the 12-hectare Clos Saint Landelin, recognizing its potential for exceptional quality. He carefully replanted the terraces, benefiting from their perfect exposure and natural shelter. Today, Alfred’s grandson René, along with his children Véronique and Thomas, the 11th and 12th generations of the family, continue to manage this remarkable estate and its surrounding terroirs, now employing biodynamic methods to preserve its legacy.

Located in Rouffach, the Clos Saint Landelin, fully owned by the Muré family, covers an area of 12 hectares. It marks the southern end of the Grand Cru Vorbourg. Located at the exit of the valley, it is exposed to the south and benefits from a good amount of sunshine until late in the afternoon. The north and west winds ensure that the vines remain healthy until harvest time.

This wine evokes notes of ripe peaches and yellow apricots, underscored by a faint smokey minerality. The palate reveals delicate notes of toasted almonds and spice flavours alongside the stone fruits, with poised acidity that cuts through the lightly creamy texture and carries fruity freshness into the finish. 

This Pinot Gris is the ideal companion for poultry, truffles or hard cheese.

Welcome to the intimate world of Quevedo, a small, family-owned winery where quality is a treasured tradition. The Quevedo family's viticultural heritage spans over five generations, beginning with Abel Gouveia Costa, who planted the first vines in 1889. Through the years, the family diligently expanded their vineyards, culminating in the 1970s when Oscar and Beatriz Quevedo modernized their facilities and established the Quevedo winery in 1993. Today, Quevedo oversees 100 hectares of vineyards and 25 hectares of organic olive groves, with current proprietors Cláudia and Oscar Quevedo Jr. continuing the legacy of crafting exceptional wines.

A very limited quantity was produced with the best grapes of the 2018 harvest. Bottled 2 years after the harvest. 

This vintage dated Port boasts a rich and expressive nose, with heady aromas of blueberry, cherry, and plum, complemented by hints of cacao and wildflowers. The palate is densely packed, leaning towards a drier, more structured style, showcasing elegance and balance. Its profile highlights complex layers of coffee beans and dried liquorice, with with fine, round tannins supporting its brambly fruit. A long, persistent finish reveals lasting notes of dark chocolate.

Decanting before serving is recommended - enjoy with blue cheese or chocolate.

The Cortonesi family has been a cornerstone of the Montalcino region for decades. Established in the 1970s, their estate spans 138 acres in one of the area's most storied regions, with 19 acres dedicated to producing world-class Brunello. The family began commercially selling their wine in 1985, and today, third-generation winemaker Tommaso Cortonesi continues the tradition. Tommaso combines his long-standing family traditions with modern technologies to craft some of the finest expressions of Tuscan Sangiovese. 

Poggiarelli is a Grand Cru single vineyard of a little less than 5 acres located on the south-eastern side of Montalcino. This vibrant and well-structured wine offers bold aromas of cherry, leather, and earthy minerals, with a hint of balsam herbs. The palate shows a meaty richness, all the while remaining refined and balanced. Warm, building tannins support the concentrated fruit, leading to a long and lovely finish. This wine has a lot to offer as it matures and will be a great addition to any cellar. 

With its complex and structured character, Brunello is always a solid accompaniment to cooked meats and firm cheeses.

Stéphane Aviron can be considered a pioneer is his approach to winemaking in Beaujolais, however he would just tell you that he’s simply returning to the traditional practices that have always made fantastic Gamay wines. Sustainable viticulture, extremely old vines and classic Burgundian techniques.

Aviron sources his Juliénas from the areas of “Vayolette” and “La Prat” from two well-established growers in the appellation. The soils in these parcels are granite with clay and limestone with old vines ranging in age from 45 to 55 years old. This wine has complex herbal, red cherry and wild strawberry aromas.

The flavours are ripe and concentrated with structure. The wine has a packed character that speaks of firm but still soft tannins that will help the wine age for years.

This Rajnai Riesling comes from a 45 years old vineyards in the outskirts of Mount Saint George in Hungary. This variety has found an excellent partner in this area, which conveys its elegant and volcanic traits perfectly. The wine is partially fermented in stainless steel tanks, which helps to maintain a vibrant acidity; and in big and neutral Hungarian barrels, which gives a special creaminess to the wine. On the nose, the oak is very well integrated into a range of aromas that goes from a very lively lemon and lime to orchard fruits notes. On the palate, it is beautifully round, with weight but with a zippy acidity and reminiscences of citrus pith.

A great pairing for spicy dishes. Strong Indian and Asian spices are a perfect match with Riesling because of its delicate sweetness and vibrant acidity.

Juicy & Fresh

While the vineyards that form Punset have been farmed by the Marcarino family for generations, it is truly thanks to Marina and her incredible energy that the estate is how it is nowadays. Her passion for the soil and the environment led her to embrace biodynamics and the agronomic philosophy of Manasobu Fukuoka. From one of the healthiest vineyards in Italy, Marina crafts wines that brim with life, energy, and pure terroir.

This Dolcetto presents itself as a vibrant fruit bomb, complemented by earthy and rustic undertones. To achieve a fresh and lively profile, maceration is carefully managed to be brief and sweet —no longer than 10 days— while the wine is aged for approximately a year in concrete tanks.

On the nose, it presents a bouquet of fresh dark fruits, with notes of ripe blackberry, succulent plum, and a hint of cherry, intertwined with subtle floral undertones and a whisper of earthiness. The vinification technique, emphasizing a short maceration, allows the wine to express its fruity aromas elegantly while avoiding overly harsh tannins. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, showcasing a harmonious balance between its lively acidity and soft, pleasant tannins that caress the mouth.

Winemaker and co-founder Rob Cameron has a colourful winemaking background – learning his craft in unique destinations such as Cyprus, Bulgaria and Hungary before moving on to France, Spain and Italy. For him, the Invivo range is all about taking some of the elegance from the old world and putting that style into amazing grapes, all the while offering wines that are fun and a bit unique.

The nose of this Pinot Gris is vibrant, brimming with ripe pears and subtle hints of candied citrus. The palate follows suit with flavours of crunchy peach and apricot, complemented by delicate white floral notes and a soft, silky texture. This style offers an elegant drinkability, with a well-balanced profile that leads into a clean, crisp finish.

An aromatic and versatile grape that pairs perfectly with many different dishes. As this style verges on off-dry, try this with a nice spicy curry to tame the heat!

Bold & Earthy

Unlike many winemakers, Frédéric Brouca is largely self-taught and took no formal courses on viticulture or winemaking.  His concept of growing grapes and winemaking focuses on reducing human intervention in the processes, and making it as natural as possible.

Frédéric makes a extremely small amount of red, sweet Vermouth from Grenache, Carignan and Terret Blanc at this winery in Faugères, South of France.

He makes it classically by adding neutral spirits produced from his own 1933 Cognac Still. On the side he macerates local botanicals; thyme, rosemary, lavender, rose petals and add some Moroccan Orange peels, local honey and 20% of the microscopic production is aged in barrels outside in the sun for 3 weeks or so to develop some oxidative complexities.

Floral and fresh, this vermouth is perfect to enjoy on its own with just an ice cube and a small bit of the best orange rind you can find.

Rich & Spicy

This cuvée is from an isolated walled vineyard in the 'Sauveplane' lieu-dit, a plateau at the eastern limit of the Faugères appellation. It's made from twenty year old Mourvèdre vines and forty year old Syrah vines with both grapes co-fermented and aged for thirteen months in oak. A very natural beauty, the nose is loaded with black pepper, blue fruits and wild gamey notes. If you're a fan of dark yet elegant natural reds with finesse and charm, this wine over delivers.

We recommend pairing it with bold meals: think French bistrot-inspired dishes, such as lentils, black pepper linguini with sausage and dandelion, or even a classic chicken satay!

Hans Herzog embodies a unique narrative as a genuine vigneron solely responsible for both winemaking and viticulture across numerous grape varieties within his 11.5-hectare vineyard. Herzog's estate stands as a true artisanal winery, where a holistic approach to farming isn't just a concept but a way of life. Every aspect of the winemaking process is meticulously overseen by Hans himself, supported by his equally passionate wife and collaborator, Therese. Together, they exemplify a relentless pursuit of quality and perfection in every bottle.

Exquisitely complex and tremendously concentrated, revealing a satin texture and compelling aromas of stone fruits and citrus zest underpinned by delicate florals and spices. The palate shows great depth of flavour along with a satisfyingly rounded feel imparted from the wine's delicate barrel maturation. Finely balanced acidity ensures great energy, promising at least a decade of aging potential. The long, concentrated and dry finish is marked by pristine minerality.

The nose is full of plump ripe raspberry, blackberry and cherry with anise and slight cocoa notes. The perfume is elegant, bold and full of life. The palate, oh the palate, what can we say? The richness, and round big tannins have control and structure of the wine. The combination of red fruits, flavourful spices wrapped in velvet leather notes gives this wine a new meaning to Niagara Cabernet Franc.

Feel free to age this full-bodied beauty for the next 8-10 years. If you drink it now, try it with hard cheeses like a well aged Cheddar, Parmigiano Reggiano, and Pecorino Romano or with roasted red meat.

The depth of this wine was structured by the warm, but not hot summer and autumn. Leaning Post believes this is the best Gamay they have made to date! The terrior of Wismer-Armbrust Vineyard really shines through, with loads of garrigue, spice and leather, with intense blackberry, cherry and pepper on the nose. The mouth is complimentary showing mulberry, pomegranate, lilac, smoked sausage and fennel seed. The finish is fantastically long and smooth.

This Merlot is part of Leaning Post's 'Freaks & Geek' collection, their Natural Wines series. The Merlot Vin Nature 2018 is a truly deep and fascinating wine, it reminds us of walking through the pine and mossy dampness of a forest path by a lake in the Canadian Shield on a cool autumn evening, stopping to pick some wild-blueberries and noticing in the background a roaring fire.

This crushable summer-sipper is a blend of 43% Gewürztraminer, 43% Riesling and 14% Pinot Gris. The nose shows soft citrus, with a grapefruit focus. The palate is very clean with very approachable lemon and grapefruit flavours. It's an off-dry white, perfect to pair with aperitifs and spicy Thai cuisine.

The “Geekiness” continues to rise in this wine. An experiment in lees aging, this riesling ages 22 months on all the lees collected from all the white wine fermentations since vintage 2014.   Reductive notes of flint and mineral frame all the beautiful stone fruit and classic Riesling notes.   It has a wonderfully rich and creamy texture balanced by a distinct freshness. It is practically immortal and should age beautifully for the next decade and well beyond.

Zesty & Mineral

Husband and wife duo Ilya and Nadia started Leaning Post winery in Niagara over 10 years ago. Initially a virtual set up, the winery now located on Highway 8, has become a reference producer in Niagara. 

The long and steady growing season of 2021 was truly ideal for Riesling, allowing the grapes to fully develop flavour while still maintaining exceptional acidity. Hand-picked and hand-sorted on October 17th, the grapes were picked at their ideal time. The Riesling was gently whole-cluster pressed, and juice was naturally settled. A long, slow, and cool fermentation took place at 12 oC in stainless steel tanks. After fermentation, the wine was aged on yeast lees in stainless steel tank for 9 months.

Rieslings are great to pair with spicy Indian and Asian cuisines and do excellently alongside duck, pork, bacon, shrimp and crab.
