Nutty & Citrusy

The Baud estate dates back to 1742, today the 9th generation manages the winery. Siblings Clementine and Bastien, both under 30, are making some of the best value wines in the area. Jura is that narrow valley in the remote hills between Burgundy and Switzerland, which millions of years ago was covered by an Ocean and today still bares many of the fossils from that time. If you kick a stone in a Jura vineyard, it will probably be a fossil.

Savagnin is the jewel of the winery. This grape variety is only cultivated in the Jura region. Its maximum expression comes from grey and blue marls. These thick and hard skinned grapes are the last to be harvested.

It is a powerful and robust wine that develops flavours such as almond, green walnut. Its complexity is progressively revealed through the appearance of flavours like fennel, hazelnut, celery and even truffle. Its persistency is long and pleasant in the mouth. We highly advise you to open the bottle few hours before consumption.

It marvellously pairs with creamy morel mushrooms. It is also superbly appreciated with Bress chicken, creamy river fish, exotic and spicy food, and longer-matured Comté. It can be accompanied with frog legs and fish-based culinary preparations, in the season.

About the Winery

Domaine Baud Père et Fils

The history of Domaine Baud dates back to 1742, and it wasn't until 1950 when René Baud, the 7th generation, rebuilt the vineyard which had suffered from the phylloxera crisis and two World Wars.

Starting with only 4 hectares, the vineyard progressively expanded to 20 hectares with the help of successive generations. Now, managed by siblings Clémentine and Bastien, the 9th generation, the estate continues to flourish and grow, with a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture and preserving the traditions and style that makes the wines of the Jura so unique and incredible.

The estate achieved the Terra Vitis certification in 2014 for its eco-friendly work and environmental preservation.
