Matías Riccitelli was born in Cafayete, Salta. He identifies as a traveler and a tireless dreamer. After countless harvests throughout the world, he decided to combine everything he has learned and dedicate himself to exploring the excellent terroirs of Mendoza and the teachings of his mentor, and father, Jorge Riccitelli.

This wine represents Matías' style when it comes to white wines; working with their three most important white grapes: 40% Sauvignon Blanc, 40% Sémillon and 20% Chardonnay, all of them coming from the coldest places in Valle de Uco.

The Sauvignon Blanc comes from limestone soils in Gualtallary. The Sémillon from 80-year old ungrafted vines in El Peral, in Valle de Uco, where soils are loam/clay. The Chardonnay comes from La Carrera, the highest elevation vineyard (1700 masl), with a complex soil of clay/loam with a subsoil of limestone gravel.

All three grapes are vinified separately, depending on their harvesting times. Fermentation happens at low temperatures with indigenous yeasts. There is also some skin contact fermentation in amphorae, concrete eggs and French foûdres. All wines age exactly where they ferment: in amphorae with the skins, over its lees in concrete eggs and in French foûdres for eight months. In the meantime, 15% of the wine is aged under flor.

The wine shows complex aromas of green apple, hay and herbaceous notes that are underpinned by a remarkable minerality. Textured and full flavoured with a wonderful fluency and a rich energy on the finish.

Pair this wine with white meats or roasted vegetables.

About the Winery

Matías Riccitelli

Matías Riccitelli was born in Cafayete, Salta. He identifies as a traveler and a tireless dreamer. After countless harvests throughout the world, he decided to combine everything he has learned and dedicate himself to exploring the excellent terroirs of Mendoza and the teachings of his mentor, and father, Jorge Riccitelli.

Matías started his boutique winery in 2009, located in Las Compuertas at 1100 meters above sea level. It is the highest area of Lujan de Cuyo, and here he tends 20 hectares of ungrafted old vineyards. Matías also works with small, independent growers that own their lands at the bottom of the Andes halfway between 1000 and 1700 meters above sea level - in Gualtallary, Chacayes, Altamira and La Carrera.

All harvests are conducted by hand and fermentation takes place in small concrete vats and concrete eggs. Purity and delicacy in winemaking are prized by Matías and great care is taken in preserving the fruit’s singularity in order to obtain vibrant wines.
