Established in 2006, Metzer Family Wines is dedicated to crafting expressive and unique wines through artisanal, non-interventionist methods that honour the integrity of the fruit. Specializing in Syrah for its responsiveness to diverse terroirs and balance of characteristics, and Chenin Blanc for its versatility and depth, the winery emphasizes minimal handling in the cellar. The grapes are ethically cultivated, and fermentation relies on indigenous yeasts, with wines bottled unfined and unfiltered to maintain their natural essence.

A single-vineyard wine from a bush vine parcel planted in 1980, situated a mere 4 km’s from the shores of False Bay. The vineyard’s pure fruit quality radiates pear, white peach and lemon. Bright stone fruit follows through on the palate which is marked by rich texture and a soft, coated acidity. The wine has a persistent finish showing subtle hints of white spice and orange blossom.

Fresh and fruity Chenin goes great with vegetable dishes or salads but this wine also pairs with rich fish or cream-based chicken entrées.

Grapes from a 1980 vineyard situated close to False Bay. Matured for nine months in older oak. Lime, lemon and apple plus some yeasty, waxy complexity. Rich but balanced thanks to a good line of acidity – very flavourful, the finish deeply savoury.
