When Michel Muré settled in Rouffach and planted his vineyard in the 17th century, he surely had little conception of the beautiful adventure that he was setting in motion for his descendants. In 1935, Alfred Muré extended the property with the addition of the 12-hectare (25-acre) wholly owned Clos Saint Landelin, foreseeing already its potential for exceptional quality. He replanted the terraces, ideally situated with their sunny exposure and shelter from the rain.

Nowadays it is Alfred’s grandson René, together with his children Véronique and Thomas, the 11th and 12th generations of the family, who are responsible for running this exceptional, wholly-owned vineyard and its neighbouring terroirs, using biodynamic methods.

Muré wines are fine and rich with beautifully mineral acidities. This is achieved in the vineyard where Alsace’s naturally long ripening season is enhanced by Muré’s exceptional south-facing slopes. These are delightful and exciting wines, abundant in flavour, opulence and lacy acidity.

The Muré family has been winegrowers in the region of Rouffach since 1650. In 1935, Alfred Muré, René’s grandfather, bought 32 acres of family-monopole vineyard name Clos St. Landelin, an area that has been described as the best of Alsace Grand Cru since the 7th Century.

Today, René Muré, the 11th generation of the family, along with his children, Véronique and Thomas, are responsible for running their exceptional Grand Cru vineyard and neighbouring terroirs using biodynamic methods. Until this day, they persist in hand-picking every single grape, and focus on crafting wines that preserve the family’s credo. The resulting wines are some of Alsace's finest – powerful, elegant, and age-worthy.

Lychee and gardenia on the nose are complemented by savory notes of dill and petrol. This clean, acid-driven wine has nice weight on the palate, which perfectly blends those lychee and dill notes. Muré’s gewürztraminer is named for the tragically hip orchids that grow and thrive in Alsace's dry as the desert like climate. They are the wild ones, "orchidées sauvages," and if you close your eyes you might just catch their scent in this restrained yet touching varietal beauty. The 2019 comes from a warm yet giving vintage so that aromas are accentuated, managing the grape's exotic tendencies with more than just expectation. Resolution is delivered in classic litchi/rosewater and hip tones so that the impossibilium of the grape will sing as it should. "Such a you thing to say.
