2 bottles x Matthias Hager Grüner Veltliner Pét-Nat 2021 (Kamptal, Austria)
Sparkling | Grüner Veltliner

The Hager Matthias winery is located in the small village of Mollands in the Kamptal area of Lower Austria. Matthias took over the 12-hectare land and the family business at an early age. He aims to produce the best quality wine possible and to focus on being in balance with nature.

This low-alcohol pet-nat is made from Gruner Veltliner vines planted at 300 meters above sea level. Expect dry, minerality driven bubbles with notes of ripe yellow stone fruit amid hints of pastry. The palate is rounded, lead by a lemony, bright and integrated freshness. The juice is slightly cloudy, a natural pick-me-up!

2 bottles x Bodegas Puiggrós Impressionant 2021 (Catalonia, Spain)
Orange | Grenache Blanc

The Puiggros family has been producing wines from their own vineyards in Odena since 1843 for friends and family, however their wines have only been available commercially since 2008. Working exclusively with Garnatxas, the family came to realize that their traditional techniques and special terroir were something worth sharing with the rest of the world.

Impressionant is a small production skin-fermented Garnatxa Blanca from a gorgeous vineyard full of limestone and clay, at 500 meters above sea level. After a hand-harvest, the grapes were fermented naturally with skins in 800-litre clay amphora for about five and a half months before a very light pressing and no filtration or fining before bottling.

Impressionant has a gorgeous amber orange colour. On the nose, it has beautiful notes of plum, fig and citrus peel; clementine and grapefruit, intermingled with medicinal herbs, nuts and spices; almond blossom, eucalyptus, thyme and clove. On the palate, it is well structured and medium-bodied. It is nicely balanced, beautifully tannic, with a long lasting finish of dried fruits and nuts.

2 bottles x Fattoria di Sammontana San Firenze Chianti Superiore DOCG 2020 (Tuscany, Italy)
Red | Sangiovese

The vineyards of Fattoria di Sammontana are located along the hills that border the Arno River, 20km to the south west of Florence. Today, the family - now in its fourth generation - runs the farm according to organic and biodynamic practices, with the intent to fully preserve and sustain the traditions and winemaking history of the land.

This Chianti is made from Sammontana's best and oldest Sangiovese vines, planted around 40 years ago. The grapes are destemmed and macerated in large concrete vats where for about 20 days. The wine is then pressed and transferred to old 225L barrels where it stays on its fine lees for roughly one year. Bottled with a tiny sulphite addition, unfined and unfiltered. It has aromas of sour cherry and black olives on the nose, with a hint of mediterranean herbs. On the palate the tannins are soft yet a bit rustic.

Matthias Hager

The Hager Matthias winery is located in the small village of Mollands in the Kamptal area of Lower Austria. Matthias took over the 12-hectare land and the family business at an early age. He aims to produce the best quality wine possible and to focus on being in balance with nature. The lands are cultivated according to biodynamic principles and are certified Demeter. Matthias has a vast knowledge about plants and insects, and about keeping the flora and fauna in harmony with the vines. Matthias Hager is one of the most experimental winemakers in the Kamptal region, Austria. He understood early how to work with different soil types from loess to clay. He established different product lines to highlight these differences: the blue one representing fresh, lively wines including Grüner Veltliner and Sauvignon Blanc; and the brown line gravitating towards more earthy, flavourful produce and the red line stands for no sulphites!
