Earthy & Spiced
Christian Bamberger winery is located in the German wine-growing region of Nahe. The Bamberger family has been practicing viticulture since 1658 and Christian is now the 14th generation. After an internship in Napa Valley, studies at the University of California in Davis and a degree in business administration at the University of Mainz, he returned to his parents' winery in 2004 and has been running the business since 2007.
On the nose, this Pinot Noir has wonderful aromas of ripe plums and wild cherries jump out of the glass, underlaid with hints of thyme and cedar wood. On the palate, it delights with its complex density, while at the same time it retains its ease of drinking. Earthy and vegetal notes of forest floor, some chocolate and mocha complement the aromas of the nose perfectly. The well-balanced fruit acidity gives the wine freshness and liveliness, while tannins and the fine wood notes from the 12-month barrel aging linger in on the finish. Pinot Noir is very versatile to pair.
This wine will go well with fish like salmon and is also delicious with duck confit and other roast meats and mushrooms.
