Domaine Berthoumieu, established in the 1850s by Virgile Dutour in Viella, Gers, has long been a cornerstone of the Madiran and Pacherenc du Vic-Bilh appellations. After generations of family stewardship, Marie-Line and Didier Barré elevated the estate in the 1990s to a benchmark of quality in the region. Today, sisters Claire and Marion Bortolussi carry forward this 150-year legacy, infusing it with their own vision while crafting wines that embody personality, identity, and balance across the estate's 25 hectares.

Deeply hued in the glass, this wine reveals enticing aromas of lightly dried blueberries and black cherries, intertwined with subtle notes of mocha spice. On the palate, it is concentrated and textured, with robust tannins that envelop the mouth, balanced by the vibrancy of the fruit. Flavours of dried currants and freshly muddled berries lead into a long, satisfying finish, accented by hints of roasted nuts.

A great match for flavourful meats such as lamb or game, or savoury dishes like crêpes stuffed with boletus mushrooms and leeks.

About the Winery

Lionel Osmin & Cie

Lionel Osmin & Cie started out with just a group of friends with the same keen passion, with the same love for wines from the South West. Then they had an idea to achieve what nobody had ever done before: to create a quality wine-broking house based on South Western wines following the example of other regions such as Burgundy or the Rhône.

With that founding principle, Lionel Osmin & Co was therefore created under the leadership of Lionel boasting the discovery of the unique wines and vineyards of this region. From Jurançon to Cahors, from Gaillac to Bergerac, passing through Marcillac, Lionel Osmin & Co has become the sole transversal signature of the wines from the South West and their vineyards whose secrets which are yet to be discovered!

The result is a range of wines whose characteristics are faithful to the region and which are made to share the joy of discovering the vines and wines that are enjoyed and loved.

95 Points - Roger Voss

Once you've negotiated the awkwardly heavy bottle, the wine is a great pour. Powerfully tannic, it is rich in dark berry flavours and dense concentration. Because it is still young, its structure and firm extraction are still evident. As it matures, this will become a finely balanced wine. Drink from 2023
