Nutty & Citrusy

The Baud estate dates back to 1742, today the 9th generation manages the winery. Siblings Clementine and Bastien, both under 30, are making some of the best value wines in the area. Jura is that narrow valley in the remote hills between Burgundy and Switzerland, which millions of years ago was covered by an Ocean and today still bares many of the fossils from that time. If you kick a stone in a Jura vineyard, it will probably be a fossil.

A truly Jura experience. This is a blend of Savagnin and Chardonnay aged in barrel for 3 years. The Savagnin, as is traditional in jura is aged under flor in barrel where it gathers a slight oxidize quality, similar to Sherry while the chardonnay is made typical fashion. These wines are then blended together and the result is truly fascinating. Roasted apples, baked nuts, candied lemons with a sherry like nose but with a full and fresh Chardonnay/Savagnin palate. Long, beautiful and delicious.

Beautiful when paired with fish and seafood; as well as with cheeses such as comté cheese.

About the Winery

Domaine Baud Père et Fils

The history of Domaine Baud dates back to 1742, and it wasn't until 1950 when René Baud, the 7th generation, rebuilt the vineyard which had suffered from the phylloxera crisis and two World Wars.

Starting with only 4 hectares, the vineyard progressively expanded to 20 hectares with the help of successive generations. Now, managed by siblings Clémentine and Bastien, the 9th generation, the estate continues to flourish and grow, with a strong commitment to sustainable viticulture and preserving the traditions and style that makes the wines of the Jura so unique and incredible.

The estate achieved the Terra Vitis certification in 2014 for its eco-friendly work and environmental preservation.
