Nicolas Potel is an iconic producer and pioneer in the Burgundy winemaking scene. He grew up in a family dedicated to wine; and after gaining some experience internationally, he started his own project in the late 90's. The Maison Roche de Bellene offers a complete range of carefully cultivated and versatile wines, often made from old vines. All of the Maison wines are made with respect to sustainable and natural farming practices, with as little intervention as necessary to showcase their individual terroirs.

A standout white wine from the underrated village of Saint-Aubin, which neighbours the famous vineyards of Montrachet and Meursault. Notes of apricot, peach and freshly picked apples present themselves on the nose followed by secondary characteristics of buttered toast and spiced hazelnuts. The palate is precise and fresh, playfully balancing the richness of buttered orchard fruit with zesty acids and stoney mineral notes. The finish is lasting and complex, revealing of wine of exceptional value.

Perfect as an aperitif, but pairs very well with firm-textured fish or with shellfish.

95 Points - David Lawrason

This is a very complete, complex and intriguing chardonnay, with more power and depth than anticipated. The nose has very lifted toasted almond, nutmeg, ripe yellow pear and subtle herbal notes. It is full bodied, very firmly structured yet rich and generous at the same time. Real grip and intensity and excellent to outstanding length.
