The Cortonesi family has been a part of the Montalcino region for decades. Established in the 1970’s and located in one of the most valuable areas in the region their La Mannella farm and vineyards cover 138 acres – 19 of which are devoted to producing a deep and elegant Brunello di Montalcino. The winery works according to tradition while employing modern technologies to enhance the wines made.
Made with grapes hailing from 37-year-old vines and aged in large Slavonian casks, this is a classically crafted wine from an absolutely excellent vintage. The Riserva is made only in the very best vintages and 2016 is no exception.
The Riserva is a restrained explosion of flavour and intensity and – unlike some Brunello Riservas – worth every penny of its price. Not for everyday drinking, perhaps, but certainly to be poured on those occasions when only the very, very best will do!
