Metzer Family Wines was established in 2006. Their aim is to produce wines that are expressive and individual, employing artisanal, non-interventionist principles in the vinification process. The guiding principle driving this process is that the wine-making must always respect the fruit. Their passion is Chenin blanc - With its versatility and immense range of flavours, it is a variety which lends itself so naturally to minimalist winemaking.

The grapes are ethically cultivated, respecting both the environment and human resources. In the cellar, a great emphasis is placed on the minimum handling of fruit, and no mechanical interventions with pumps, filters and reverse osmosis machines are ever used in the process. Fermentation by indigenous yeasts, alive on the grapes and resident in the cellar, lead to long, stable extraction times. Wines are bottled unfined and unfiltered to preserve the "life-forces" from vineyard to bottle.

100% Chenin blanc. A single-vineyard wine from a bush vine parcel planted in 1964. The vineyard is situated on the foothills of the Helderberg mountain.

Fresh and fruity Chenin Blanc goes great with vegetable dishes or salads but this wine also pairs with rich fish or cream-based chicken entrées.

Grapes from a 1964 vineyard on the foothills of the Helderberg. A top note of blossom before lime, green apple and white peach with notes of flinty reduction and wet wool in the background. Extraoridinary fruit concentration and flavour intensity to go with arresting acidity and a pithy finish – not too light despite an alcohol of 12.8% and greatly energetic.
