The Tomich family hails from the Adriatic Coast in Croatia where winemaking is a way of life. Jack Tomich Senior arrived in Australia in 1903, bringing with him all of the grape growing and winemaking skills of his forefathers. The family had always made their own wine for the family and grew sultanas and wine grapes after moving to the new irrigation settlement of Mildura in 1936. Jack’s son Ivan showed a real passion for wine, and by 1946 was producing and selling to local farmers. Three generations of grape growers and winemakers later, the Tomich family now owns one of the best sites in the Adelaide Hills and has kept its ancestral way of softly farming the land while advocating for regenerative growing practices.

Tomich Wines is dedicated to sustainable wine growing with a multitude of environmental practices that have been implemented in and around the family vineyard at Woodside. The bee featured on their logo symbolizes the family’s philosophy of hard work, attention to detail and environmentally sensitive farming for future generations.

This Single Vineyard wine is handcrafted from Estate-grown fruit from a high altitude, cool climate vineyard. Offering intense berry and red cherry aromas on the nose, followed by a vibrant palate that shows dark wild berries and cherry cola notes with subtle hints of dried herbs. Nice and light-weight with graceful tannins to carry the flavourful fruit notes long into the pleasing finish.

This is the perfect pairing for sweet-and-sour pork chops and braised duck legs.

93 Points - Ken Gargett

A single vineyard Pinot Noir from the highly respected Woodside sub-region of the Adelaide Hills. The colour is a gentle crimson but that belies the life and focus in this wine. The nose offers some appealing vegetation notes, spices, dry herbs and a briary note that one usually encounters with wines which have a percentage of whole bunch fermentation. There are dark fruit notes, hints of cassis and tobacco leaves, as well as lovely red fruit characters. This is fresh and energetic on the palate, with good acidity supporting the length. A degree of tension here is adding to the overall impression of a wine of brightness, finesse and verve. Silky tannins to be found on the lengthy, lingering finish. This will drink very well over the next 4 to 5 years. A delicious Pinot.
