Francisco Baettig and Carlos de Carlos cut their teeth in the wine industry as part of the well known Errázuriz operation, where they worked together for many years. Inspired by their mutual love of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the talented enologist and savvy businessman branched out to create Vinos Baettig. Produced in small batches and sold as limited editions to selected buyers, their wines have swiftly become some of the most interesting & highly lauded among the emerging talents of Chile.

The grapes come from a combination of parcels at Viñedo Los Suizos, grown in the region of Malleco. This is a land of wild forests, beautiful lakes, active volcanoes and abundant rain in southern Chilean. 'Los Parientes' (the relatives) refers to the closeness of the different components within the same vineyard.

Displaying inviting floral scents of wildflowers and rose hips with tinges of tobacco and fragrant dried herbs, the savoury notes are layered nicely against soft fruit tones of  blueberries and sour cherries. Round and juicy on the palate, the fruitiness is tempered by bright acidity and earthy nuances. Fine-grained tannins add density and pleasing texture that accompanies the fruit into the finish.

Roasted and grilled veggies will compliment the savoury side of this wine. Pair with duck fat roasted brussel sprouts or a veggie lovers pizza.

About the Winery

Vinos Baettig

Francisco Baettig and Carlos de Carlos have been friends for more than 20 years and share a passion for high-quality wines that are genuine and connected to the land where they are made.

Their families arrived in Traiguén and Purén from Switzerland in the 19th century, where they worked in agriculture, surrounded by volcanoes, lakes and forests, silos, livestock, wagons, and wheat fields.
Francisco and Carlos' passion for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, together with their love for the land of their ancestors, was the inspiration for making their own wines that pay homage to these beloved terroirs. After studying the soil and climate in Traiguén for several years, they chose a plateau with volcanic soil between the Quino and Traiguén Rivers and planted vines in 2013.

"A promising project in a wine region that is the future of high-quality Chilean wines" - Patricio Tapia, Descorchados

94 Points - Zekun Shuai, Senior Editor

Brown stems with a hint of blackcurrants, mulberries, violets, rose hips and a hint of licorice. Medium- to full-bodied on the palate with a fleshy mid-palate and fine tannins. Quite intense yet vibrant. Great drinkability. Drink now.

93 Points - Luis Gutiérrez

2022 was a milder year, and the 2022 Vino de Viñedo Los Parientes Pinot Noir shows quite similar to the 2021 (there are more noticeable differences in the white); the parameters are similar (and so was the enology, with 10% full clusters, indigenous fermentation and small percentage of new barrels with a little less time in barrel, eight months here). Perhaps there is an earthier touch here; there's more finesse in the 2021 and a little more rusticity in this 2022. It's very open in the nose and very attractive, with fine tannins and nice balance. 8,539 bottles were filled in November 2022.

93 Points - Joaquín Hidalgo

The 2022 Pinot Noir Vino de Viñedo Los Parientes from Traiguén, Malleco, was aged for 8 months in 10% new barrels. Vivid ruby red in the glass. The alluring, expressive aromas include sour cherry and elderberry alongside hints of earth, mushroom and a little haystack. Fluid with finely-grained, slightly grippy tannins that keep the palate compact. The elegant freshness ensures the flow is nimble before the lengthy, fruity finish.
