The Tomich family hails from the Adriatic Coast in Croatia where winemaking is a way of life. Jack Tomich Senior arrived in Australia in 1903 bringing with him all of the grape growing and winemaking skills of his forefathers. The family had always made their own wine for home use and grew sultanas and wine grapes after moving to the new irrigation settlement of Mildura in 1936. Jack’s son Ivan showed a real passion for wine, and by 1946 was producing wine and selling it to local farmers. 3 generations of grape growers and winemakers later, the Tomich family now owns one of the best sites in the Adelaide Hills and had kept its ancestral way of softly farming the land and is pushing for sustainable growing practices.

Made in small batches, the 70% French clone gives it rich pear and apple, whilst the 30% American clone gives it its fresh melon and citrus acid backbone. The mouth filling texture of this chardonnay fruit is sought after by many winemakers. Opens with aromas of creamy ripe white nectarines and apples. On the palate it has a good round mouthfeel with clean and crunchy flavours from pure stone fruits. A crisp and fresh yet rich chardonnay.

Pairs well with fresh, vibrant, and lively foods that sparkle with acidity like Baja fish tacos or heavier foods that need a bit of a high note lift such as roasted monkfish and trout.

The high-altitude range of the Adelaide Hills is excellent for producing a lean style of Chardonnay not commonly associated with the riper, hotter type Australia is known for. This full-bodied wine offers crunchy green apple and nectarine flavours and will make a great accompaniment to steamed mussels in garlic sauce.
