Built in the 15th century, the Château de la Grange "Barbastre" belonged to the Basbastre family, Lord of the Grange, until the end of the 16th century. The property passed to the de Goulaine family in 1777. Thanks to the estate's closeness to the Lac de Grand Lieu and the influence of the Atlantic Ocean, it enjoys a micro-climate which is unique to the Côtes de Grandlieu area and offers good growing conditions for Melon B., the Muscadet grape

Planted on slopes facing southeast, this Muscadet Côtes de Grand Lieu sur Lie is produced from the old vines of the estate (more than 40 years old). The nose is elegant with hints of white flowers, lemon zest, ginger and salty minerality. Left on the lees (sur lie) for an extended period of time to develop a beautiful creamy texture balanced out by bracing acidity.

Muscadet Sur Lie is an exquisite pairing with oysters or any other type of shellfish. A true classic pairing would be 'moules frites' - mussels tossed in shallots, white wine and herbs with a side of french fries!

Gold Medal

The brilliant and luminous pale yellow colour with silver reflections opens onto an attractive and complex nose which combines the scents of flowers with those of white fruits (peach, pear) and is enriched with nuances of citrus fruits (grapefruit, lemon). The palate with a pearly attack offers fleshy substance, richness, finesse, a chiseled character, a remarkable balance on liveliness, as well as fruity aromas (mango, passion) which persist in a racy, elegant and long. Superb Muscadet Côtes de Grandlieu on lie.
