The top-of-the-range 2018 Finca O Figueiral Colleita Seleccionada comes from the vineyard that was first replanted exclusively with indigenous grape varieties in 1978. The wine is 70% Treixadura and the remainder a lot of other grapes—Godello, Albariño, Loureira, Lado, Silveiriña, Caíño Blanco, Dona Blanca and others. It fermented with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and matured with the lees in 500- and 600-liter oak barrels for 10 months followed by one year in tank. Part of this wine, around 20% also contributes to the blend of the eponymous Coto de Gomariz. It's expressive, balanced, ripe and pungent with piercing acidity; it is powerful and has the ingredients and freshness to develop nicely in bottle. It's layered, complex and deep with subtleness and clout. 3,333 numbered bottles were filled in September 2020.
Coto de Gomariz is the biggest exporter of Ribeiro wines. They are a family winery with 32 hectares of vineyards, eight of them planted to red varieties, all farmed organically and following the principles of Fukuoka and Steinner, but not certified. They produce 90,000 bottles.
