Delivery times: It requires two full cases of each wine in order for us to build and fulfill two mixed cases. This process usually takes about 7-10 business days but may vary.

The Hager's winery consists of 13ha of vineyards in and around the small wine-growing village of Mollands and all of their vineyards are cultivated biodynamically. The strength of this family business is its soil diversity. Loess, clay and different kinds of primary rock (mica schist, gneiss, etc.) can be found in the northern part of Kamptal.

Enjoy two of his finest wines with this mixed case. This mixed case includes 3 bottles of each wine.

3 bottles x Matthias Hager Grüner Veltliner Pét-Nat 2021 (Kamptal, Austria)
Sparkling | Gruner Veltliner
This low-alcohol pet-nat is made from Gruner Veltliner vines planted at 300 meters above sea level. Expect dry, minerality driven bubbles with notes of ripe yellow stone fruit amid hints of pastry. The palate is rounded, lead by a lemony, bright and integrated freshness. The juice is slightly cloudy, a natural pick-me-up!

A great aperitif. Pop and enjoy.

3 bottles x Matthias Hager Riesling Alte Reben Steinleiten 2018 (Kamptal, Austria)
White | Riesling
The Riesling Alte Rebe comes - as its name implies - from old vines. The grapes are planted in the 1960-ies on a clay soil with stony base at 320m above sea-level. Because of their age the quantity is rather little but the quality is therefore very high. The grapes and berries are very little but the potential for maturity is very high. The harvest is always rather late. A part of Riesling Alte Reben 18 was fermented on the skin (10%) and aged in oak barrels. The rest made its spontaneous fermentation in steel tank. Combined it is a very complex white wine with a good structure, a nice mouth-feeling and a mix of fruitiness and minerality.

About the Winery

Matthias Hager

The Hager Matthias winery is located in the small village of Mollands in the Kamptal area of Lower Austria. Matthias took over the 12-hectare land and the family business at an early age. He aims to produce the best quality wine possible and to focus on being in balance with nature. The lands are cultivated according to biodynamic principles and are certified Demeter. Matthias has a vast knowledge about plants and insects, and about keeping the flora and fauna in harmony with the vines. Matthias Hager is one of the most experimental winemakers in the Kamptal region, Austria. He understood early how to work with different soil types from loess to clay. He established different product lines to highlight these differences: the blue one representing fresh, lively wines including Grüner Veltliner and Sauvignon Blanc; and the brown line gravitating towards more earthy, flavourful produce and the red line stands for no sulphites!
