Nicolas Potel is an iconic producer and pioneer in the Burgundy winemaking scene. He grew up in a family dedicated to wine; and after gaining some experience internationally, he started his own project in the late 90's. The Maison Roche de Bellene offers a complete range of carefully cultivated and versatile wines, often made from old vines. All of the Maison wines are made with respect to sustainable and natural farming practices, with as little intervention as necessary to showcase their individual terroirs.

Nearly a decade old, this wine has evolved to reveal mature notes of toasted hazelnuts and marzipan delicately entwined with spice-tossed orchard fruits and dried flowers. The palate offers medium weight and a pleasing autolytic texture, punctuated by elevated acidity and tart citrus notes. Concluding with finesse, the wine leaves a lasting impression with an enduring flinty character.

Match this wine's mature flavour profile with truffle-based dishes to best complement its nutty/buttery profile. Think truffle-based soup with celery root and hazelnut or salad with white mushrooms and truffled herbs.

Wine Align - Michael Godel

93 Points

Old vines concentration indeed coupled with warm vintage ease for Meursault that’s done more than surprisingly well to not only last but remain openly fragrant for a good long time. A gift of fruit as well, more than anything else and fresh to boot. A top quality parcel gathered and granted best scenario aperture by Nicolas Potel who knows how to grow them and knows how to own them. Cue the Gambler and have a glass for full country AND western enjoyment. Drink 2024-2027
