Mineral & Zesty

Lighthall Vineyards is a small, proud, low volume and high quality winery located in enchanting Prince Edward County, Ontario, Canada. All their wines are produced in a non-interventionist manner and fuelled by passion as hearty as our vines. They also make cheese, designed to pair with their wines.

This, Lighthall's first edition of concrete aged Chardonnay, paints the clearest image yet of county terroir. Clear and authentic, the nose is brimming with honeyed apple, lemon yogurt, salted oyster shell, and beeswax. The flavours continue in the palate, but the star of the show is the opulent, luscious, yet elegant mouthfeel that lingers with finesse.

A brilliant seafood wine, this is a knockout with oysters, halibut, butter-poached cod,
lobster, crab, and scallops. Lemon chicken, rabbit, and quail are good meat options, while grilled asparagus, hummus, creamy orzo, and tofu souvlaki make delightful vegetarian picks. Rich, creamy, and mild cheeses are well balanced by the bright acidity and round texture.

Bianka and Daniel took over the Weingut Schmitt in 2012 as the fourth generation to lead the winery. They are based in Wonnegau in the south Rheinhessen, centered in Flörsheim-Dalsheim. All of the vineyards are in Flörsheim-Dalsheim and neighbour villages Monsheim and Kriegsheim. Bianka and Daniel have been working their 16 hectares biodynamically for over a decade and are one of only 80 producers in Germany to be Demeter certified. 

This wine is made entirely from 100% Monsheim Riesling grapes, which were carefully harvested in the late harvest season at the end of October when the grapes are perfectly ripe and full of juicy flavour. After the grapes are picked, they undergo a process called maceration for 24 hours, allowing the juices and flavours to develop more fully. The wine is aged in large oak barrels that can hold between 1200 to 3000 liters, giving it a smooth and rich character that enhances its natural taste. 

This Riesling has a vibrant profile, and showcases ripe pear and luscious quince jelly on the palate, elegantly balanced by a zesty hint of grapefruit that adds a thrilling finish. The wine's intensity reflects the vineyard's exceptional terroir, delivering a harmonious fusion of fruitiness and acidity that invites another sip. The production process begins with the whole cluster pressing of carefully selected Portugieser and Dornfelder grapes, allowing the extraction of their rich flavors and aromas while maintaining the integrity of the fruit. Following this initial pressing, the juice undergoes a primary fermentation. After this first fermentation is complete, the wine is transferred to aging vessels, where it matures for a period of six months. Subsequently, a second fermentation occurs in a pressure tank. This secondary fermentation lasts for three months, during which time the wine develops its signature bubbles.

The FKK Fizz is convincing in every respect: fizzy fun paired with grapefruit and strawberry flavours. Fruity, crisp, always perfect!

The Freiheit Riesling is a real surprise. Amidst countless conventional winegrowers in the hilly region of Rheinhessen, Bianka and Daniel Schmitt have taken a different path. The grapes were picked and selected by hand, the must was brought into the barrel immediately after pressing and left there to fend for itself. It was bottled unsulfured and unfiltered.

The result is incredibly lively, almost funky, with striking fruit. When freshly opened, it smells exotic of passion fruit, pineapple, but also gooseberries and ripe yellow pears.

In the 17th century, Michel Muré planted his vineyard in Rouffach, unknowingly beginning a legacy that would span generations. In 1935, Alfred Muré expanded the property with the acquisition of the 12-hectare Clos Saint Landelin, recognizing its potential for exceptional quality. He carefully replanted the terraces, benefiting from their perfect exposure and natural shelter. Today, Alfred’s grandson René, along with his children Véronique and Thomas, the 11th and 12th generations of the family, continue to manage this remarkable estate and its surrounding terroirs, now employing biodynamic methods to preserve its legacy.

Located in Rouffach, the Clos Saint Landelin, fully owned by the Muré family, covers an area of 12 hectares. It marks the southern end of the Grand Cru Vorbourg. Located at the exit of the valley, it is exposed to the south and benefits from a good amount of sunshine until late in the afternoon. The north and west winds ensure that the vines remain healthy until harvest time.

This wine evokes notes of ripe peaches and yellow apricots, underscored by a faint smokey minerality. The palate reveals delicate notes of toasted almonds and spice flavours alongside the stone fruits, with poised acidity that cuts through the lightly creamy texture and carries fruity freshness into the finish. 

This Pinot Gris is the ideal companion for poultry, truffles or hard cheese.

Domaine Charly Nicolle was created with less than one hectare in 1979 by Robert Nicolle and Josette Laroche, who can both trace their winemaking heritage in Fleys back to the late 19th century. Since the creation of the Domaine, they have increased the size of their vineyards bit by bit, and today the Domaine produces wine from 20 hectares of vines. In 1999, they were joined by their son Charly, who had just graduated from the lycée viticole. Charly is now officially in charge of the Domaine, together with his wife Lucie, but Robert is still out in the vines nearly every day. The largest holdings of the Domaine are in AOC Chablis, located mostly around the family's beloved village of Fleys.

With a brilliant straw-yellow hue, this wine shines with exceptional clarity. The nose is delicate and pure, showcasing floral notes that reflect its clay-limestone origins. On the palate, it reveals the depth and complexity of a Grand Cru, where vibrant minerality meets rich, powerful layers of ripe fruit. Cordero San Giorgio is a new beginning in Oltrépo-Pavese for three siblings who grew up surrounded by their family’s vines at the legendary Vietti Estate in Castiglione Falletto in Barolo. The siblings Francesco, Lorenzo, and Caterina Cordero, are grandchildren of Luciana Vietti & Alfredo Currado, one of the pioneers of the first Barolo crus and considered the “father of Arneis.” Their father is Mario Cordero, Alfredo and Luciana’s son-in-law, who was the company’s co-owner from the beginning of the ‘80s until 2016 when it was sold.

The Oltrepò Pavese is a hilly triangle of land in Lombardy, embraced by Piedmont, Liguria, and Emilia-Romagna. A territory dedicated to the cultivation of vines and the culture of wine for centuries: a land of both cultural and gastronomic encounter and exchange. Cordero San Giorgio is in the town of Santa Giuletta, and focuses on working with Pinot Nero, Pinot Grigio and Chardonnay.

Welcome to the intimate world of Quevedo, a small, family-owned winery where quality is a treasured tradition. The Quevedo family's viticultural heritage spans over five generations, beginning with Abel Gouveia Costa, who planted the first vines in 1889. Through the years, the family diligently expanded their vineyards, culminating in the 1970s when Oscar and Beatriz Quevedo modernized their facilities and established the Quevedo winery in 1993. Today, Quevedo oversees 100 hectares of vineyards and 25 hectares of organic olive groves, with current proprietors Cláudia and Oscar Quevedo Jr. continuing the legacy of crafting exceptional wines.

A very limited quantity was produced with the best grapes of the 2018 harvest. Bottled 2 years after the harvest. 

This vintage dated Port boasts a rich and expressive nose, with heady aromas of blueberry, cherry, and plum, complemented by hints of cacao and wildflowers. The palate is densely packed, leaning towards a drier, more structured style, showcasing elegance and balance. Its profile highlights complex layers of coffee beans and dried liquorice, with with fine, round tannins supporting its brambly fruit. A long, persistent finish reveals lasting notes of dark chocolate.

The Cortonesi family has been a cornerstone of the Montalcino region for decades. Established in the 1970s, their estate spans 138 acres in one of the area's most storied regions, with 19 acres dedicated to producing world-class Brunello. The family began commercially selling their wine in 1985, and today, third-generation winemaker Tommaso Cortonesi continues the tradition. Tommaso combines his long-standing family traditions with modern technologies to craft some of the finest expressions of Tuscan Sangiovese. 

Poggiarelli is a Grand Cru single vineyard of a little less than 5 acres located on the south-eastern side of Montalcino. This vibrant and well-structured wine offers bold aromas of cherry, leather, and earthy minerals, with a hint of balsam herbs. The palate shows a meaty richness, all the while remaining refined and balanced. Warm, building tannins support the concentrated fruit, leading to a long and lovely finish. This wine has a lot to offer as it matures and will be a great addition to any cellar. 

With its complex and structured character, Brunello is always a solid accompaniment to cooked meats and firm cheeses.

Stéphane Aviron can be considered a pioneer is his approach to winemaking in Beaujolais, however he would just tell you that he’s simply returning to the traditional practices that have always made fantastic Gamay wines. Sustainable viticulture, extremely old vines and classic Burgundian techniques.

Aviron sources his Juliénas from the areas of “Vayolette” and “La Prat” from two well-established growers in the appellation. The soils in these parcels are granite with clay and limestone with old vines ranging in age from 45 to 55 years old. This wine has complex herbal, red cherry and wild strawberry aromas.

The flavours are ripe and concentrated with structure. The wine has a packed character that speaks of firm but still soft tannins that will help the wine age for years.

Robert, whose family is originally from Hungary, was born in Canada and grew up on a farm. After some years working as an architect, he found his passion in winemaking, and relocated to his grandparent's country to start a winery.

This Rajnai Riesling comes from a 45 years old vineyards in the outskirts of Mount Saint George in Hungary. This variety has found an excellent partner in this area, which conveys its elegant and volcanic traits perfectly. The wine is partially fermented in stainless steel tanks, which helps to maintain a vibrant acidity; and in big and neutral Hungarian barrels, which gives a special creaminess to the wine. On the nose, the oak is very well integrated into a range of aromas that goes from a very lively lemon and lime to orchard fruits notes. On the palate, it is beautifully round, with weight but with a zippy acidity and reminiscences of citrus pith.

A great pairing for spicy dishes. Strong Indian and Asian spices are a perfect match with Riesling because of its delicate sweetness and vibrant acidity.

Thompson Steer winery was established in 1990 and is based in the Coonawarra region of the Limestone Coast. The winery itself is named after the meandering lakes and adjoining fields to the vineyards that neighbour the country town of Mundulla. The wines made under this brand reflect all that is unique to this wine growing location. 

A fruit-forward wine brimming with bold flavours of blackcurrant, dark plum, and cherry. Subtle nuances of toasted oak and bitter chocolate balance the richness of the fruit, while velvety tannins lend texture and depth, culminating in a full, rounded mouthfeel. Hardy's constructed the Stonehaven Winery in 1998 with the purpose of showcasing the distinct qualities of the Limestone Coast region in Southern Australia. Following Hardy's acquisition by Constellation and subsequent brand expansion, the winery fell into dormancy after being sold. In early 2021, C.W. Wines acquired both the Stonehaven winery and brand, subsequently reintroducing the Stonehaven label to the market. Now sporting a revitalized appearance and market strategy, Stonehaven aims to appeal to contemporary wine enthusiasts, offering a wine selection suitable for any occasion.

Sourced from 20-year-old estate vineyards, this Cab Sauv presents classic notes of black fruits and dark chocolate, with subtle hints of fragrant herbs and eucalyptus. The “Dots family” consists of single-varietal wines from indigenous varieties; it is named this way after its illusional label of dots where one can find the name of the variety the wine is made from Exceptional terroirs, minimal intervention viticulture, and wine making with a unique goal: to express clearly and honestly each variety’s character.

After careful sorting and a short cold-soak, slow spontaneous fermentation takes place in tulip-shaped 31hl concrete tanks and a small portion in 5hl open top barrels. 5%-8% whole cluster. Blended right after fermentation, it is aged for 10 months on its fine lees in amphorae. Bottled unfiltered to retain its natural character and elegance.

Cherries and floral notes on the nose enveloped by spices and some mineral notes. On the palate, it is very fruity (cherries and strawberries), with fresh acidity and a very elegant and long finish.

Grapes are sourced from contract growers, mostly from mountainous sites of Heraklion, Crete. After their chilling at 5°C, the grapes are carefully sorted and pressed as whole clusters in a vertical press. Spontaneous fermentation takes place slowly in 4 different types of vessels, from 4 different elements: clay amphorae, concrete tanks, large barrels of 600L and stainless steel tanks, providing the wine with impressive complexity and depth.
Wine is aged for 6 to 9 months in amphorae and concrete tanks, with only a small percentage in the old large barrels, in order to preserve all of its purity of fruit and taste; after that, wine is bottled unfiltered to retain its purity and elegance.

Complex nose of citrus with hints of white flowers and herbs on a mineral shade. It is creamy and layered in the mouth with flavors of stone fruits, lime and spices. It’s lively acidity provides freshness to the wine and a persistent after taste.

Peter Sichel (of the Bordeaux négociant family) first discovered the valley of Cucugnan on a road trip with a friend in the 1960s. He was so spellbound by the place that he bought a house there and, in 1988, planted a vineyard. The project grew, albeit slowly, but the arrival of Peter’s thoughtful and environmentally inspired grandson, Alexander Sichel, has turned the Domaine Peter Sichel project completely around.

Montanha is made from Grenache . The vines are cultivated between 300 and 400 meters above sea level on clay-limestone mountain slopes. After a short infusion of 2.5 days, the must is pressed and the wine finishes its fermentation in concrete vats .

Montanha, meaning "Mountain" in Occitan, is a refreshing infusion crafted from fresh mountain fruits. The wine presents a clear ruby hue, accompanied by a clean and expressive nose featuring notes of red fruits and wild strawberries. Its profile reveals a fine and elegant structure, making it a delightful experience for the senses.

Juicy & Fresh

While the vineyards that form Punset have been farmed by the Marcarino family for generations, it is truly thanks to Marina and her incredible energy that the estate is how it is nowadays. Her passion for the soil and the environment led her to embrace biodynamics and the agronomic philosophy of Manasobu Fukuoka. From one of the healthiest vineyards in Italy, Marina crafts wines that brim with life, energy, and pure terroir.

This Dolcetto presents itself as a vibrant fruit bomb, complemented by earthy and rustic undertones. To achieve a fresh and lively profile, maceration is carefully managed to be brief and sweet —no longer than 10 days— while the wine is aged for approximately a year in concrete tanks.

On the nose, it presents a bouquet of fresh dark fruits, with notes of ripe blackberry, succulent plum, and a hint of cherry, intertwined with subtle floral undertones and a whisper of earthiness. The vinification technique, emphasizing a short maceration, allows the wine to express its fruity aromas elegantly while avoiding overly harsh tannins. Francisco Baettig and Carlos de Carlos cut their teeth in the wine industry as part of the well known Errázuriz operation, where they worked together for many years. Inspired by their mutual love of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, the talented enologist and savvy businessman branched out to create Vinos Baettig. Produced in small batches and sold as limited editions to selected buyers, their wines have swiftly become some of the most interesting & highly lauded among the emerging talents of Chile.

This Selección de Parcelas was made with Chardonnay grapes grown in Malleco, in the appellation of Traiguén. Malleco is a land of wild forests, beautiful lakes, active volcanoes and abundant rain in southern Chilean. The name Los Primos (the cousins) refers to the closeness of style and quality of the vineyard parcels (named Triángulo and Llaima) that give rise to this wine.

Aromatic and highly complex with notes of pear, apricot, nougat & acacia subtly underscored by whiffs of honeyed wax and sliced almonds & walnuts. The palate is deep and reveals elegant weight with a creamy texture. Abounding with flavours of golden apple, passion fruit, honey, hay and sweet spices, the body and density are harmoniously balanced by the acidity. This is fresh, lively and tense, with a long finish and great aging potential.

Winemaker and co-founder Rob Cameron has a colourful winemaking background – learning his craft in unique destinations such as Cyprus, Bulgaria and Hungary before moving on to France, Spain and Italy. For him, the Invivo range is all about taking some of the elegance from the old world and putting that style into amazing grapes, all the while offering wines that are fun and a bit unique.

The nose of this Pinot Gris is vibrant, brimming with ripe pears and subtle hints of candied citrus. The palate follows suit with flavours of crunchy peach and apricot, complemented by delicate white floral notes and a soft, silky texture. This style offers an elegant drinkability, with a well-balanced profile that leads into a clean, crisp finish.

An aromatic and versatile grape that pairs perfectly with many different dishes. As this style verges on off-dry, try this with a nice spicy curry to tame the heat!

Bold & Earthy

Unlike many winemakers, Frédéric Brouca is largely self-taught and took no formal courses on viticulture or winemaking.  His concept of growing grapes and winemaking focuses on reducing human intervention in the processes, and making it as natural as possible.

Frédéric makes a extremely small amount of red, sweet Vermouth from Grenache, Carignan and Terret Blanc at this winery in Faugères, South of France.

He makes it classically by adding neutral spirits produced from his own 1933 Cognac Still. On the side he macerates local botanicals; thyme, rosemary, lavender, rose petals and add some Moroccan Orange peels, local honey and 20% of the microscopic production is aged in barrels outside in the sun for 3 weeks or so to develop some oxidative complexities.

Floral and fresh, this vermouth is perfect to enjoy on its own with just an ice cube and a small bit of the best orange rind you can find.

Unlike many winemakers, Frederic Brouca is largely self-taught and took no formal courses on viticulture or winemaking.  His concept of growing grapes and winemaking focuses on reducing human intervention in the processes, and making it as natural as possible.

This cuvée is from an isolated walled vineyard in the 'Sauveplane' lieu-dit, a plateau at the eastern limit of the Faugères appellation. It's made from twenty year old Mourvèdre vines and forty year old Syrah vines with both grapes co-fermented and aged for thirteen months in oak. A very natural beauty, the nose is loaded with black pepper, blue fruits and wild gamey notes. If you're a fan of dark yet elegant natural reds with finesse and charm, this wine over delivers.

We recommend pairing it with bold meals: think French bistrot-inspired dishes, such as lentils, black pepper linguini with sausage and dandelion, or even a classic chicken satay!

At the southerly point of Africa along the Cape South Coast, Elgin stands out as the coolest region for wine production. Situated 450 meters above sea level on the southern ridge overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, lies Iona vineyards, surrounded by the UNESCO-certified Kogelberg Biosphere. Here, a unique microclimate is shaped by the close proximity to the freezing Atlantic Ocean and rapid altitude rise. Misty clouds shield the vineyards from intense sun exposure, filtering the sunlight to promote slow ripening. This results in grapes with perfect acidity, moderate alcohol, and beautifully developed flavours.

Iona's vineyards are meticulously tended by hand using organic and biodynamic methods, prioritizing soil health and integrated pest management. This philosophy extends to their cellar practices, where minimal intervention is required thanks to the exceptional quality of their fruit.

Stylish and Burgundian with bright citrus, white stone fruit, oyster shell minerality and a hint of brioche. The purity of fruit combined with well-judged oak and bright fresh acidity result in a wine that is layered and complex with a lingering finish.

A great match with seafood based dishes - serve alongside Sea Bass with Beurre Blanc or seared scallops. 

Floral & Spicy

Cantina Barbera is located in Menfi, on the west coast of Sicily. The vineyards are about one mile from the Mediterranean Sea: an uncontaminated deep blue sea, facing South, where low cliffs and sandy dunes create a beautiful environment protected by the Belice River Natural Reservation Fund.

This wine is 100% Frappato, and while Menfi is located outside the historical area where Frappato is traditionally planted, it shares many fundamental characteristics with that terroir: southern exposure, outstanding saline soils lying on compact clays. FuoriZona is a mouthwatering wine with a light ruby
color, soft tannins, a distinct acidity and a graceful body. It smells of cherries, mint, violet and red roses, and has a mouth of pink pepper, blood orange and pomegranate.

Honeysuckle & Minerality

RR81 stands for 'Regional Road 81' - the road The Farm sits on, and a main artery through wine country. The RR81 approach to winemaking is simply fermented grapes with nothing added. One-off wines sourced from some of the best single vineyards in Niagara. These wines are made in the barn at The Farm with minimal intervention (just a few bins and an old basket press). The result equals some of the best, and most unique, wines coming out of Niagara.

Naturally fermented, unfined and unfiltered. The grapes were handpicked on October 5th, and fermented with whole cluster. It was then pressed into neutral French oak barrels and aged on primary lees. Only 4 barrels made.

Drinks like an early spring day, with swirling aromas of honeysuckle, sweet corn and fresh herbs intermingling in the sunshine. The nose is alluringly mineral, greeting you with an unapologetic ode to limestone.

Full & Rich

Husband and wife duo Ilya and Nadia started Leaning Post winery in Niagara over 10 years ago. Initially a virtual set up, the winery now located on Highway 8, has become a reference producer in Niagara.

The nose is full of plump ripe raspberry, blackberry and cherry with anise and slight cocoa notes. The perfume is elegant, bold and full of life. The palate, oh the palate, what can we say? The richness, and round big tannins have control and structure of the wine. The combination of red fruits, flavourful spices wrapped in velvet leather notes gives this wine a new meaning to Niagara Cabernet Franc.

Feel free to age this full-bodied beauty for the next 8-10 years. If you drink it now, try it with hard cheeses like a well aged Cheddar, Parmigiano Reggiano, and Pecorino Romano or with roasted red meat.
